Hive Open Mic Week 1 - Original Song - Dangerous Minds
Here is my entry into Hive Open Mic started this week by @cabelindsay - it fits with the theme because truth can be sweeter than honey (but also bitter as a strong medicine).
I put this together from some free-writing I wrote when in the Netherlands earlier this year.

I'd also like to discuss with @cabelindsay - what is the nature of an Open Mic.
In a pub, you play, everyone stands around and pays a little respect and claps, you get off. You know, it's a community thing.
Whenever open mics have been run in their different evolutions here, they've always been run as competitions.
This means that judges, come and judge like an idol competition and there is prizes.
What if it didn't need to be run as a competition. Which defeats the purpose of music (at least for the reasons that I do music) as all expression is valid. Competition restricts and constricts the energy required for flow - this flow is what makes authentic music and allows the universe to be expressed through us.
What if there were entries, then there was a feature that featured ALL performances and the amount of crypto that that feature post attracts (including a pile of sponsors everyweek) is then divided equally among the participants.
Will this remove or increase incentive? I don't know but a true open mic is not a competition in my eyes.
Will you be judging all the songs, seeing as you have started this? Can you hold your personal biases, politics and judgements from affecting the outcome of that 'judging'.
It's a conversation to be had.
And sonic groove live is coming back eventually, it is being renamed to @hivelive
It's a process because everyone is having their own individual corona disasters.
So that will continue in the same style it was, a competition.

Thank you man! I appreciate it! Jamiroquai was an interest of mine growing up, before I discovered other musics, so yes, this probably has an influence.
