Opening by Philip Glass In Reverse with Fractals ... An Experimental Attempt at Destroying Involuntary Musical Imagery

For the last week, something horrible has been happening.
I wake up in the middle of the night with Joe Walsh's "Life's Been Good" running through my head.

After several failed attempts at returning to a peaceful sleep, I eventually pass out from exhaustion.

Then, upon waking in the morning I am tortured with another song assaulting my brain..."What a Feeling" from the 80's movie, Flashdance.

Why?

Why??

WHY???

These little buggers are called Earworms.
I don't like that word.
At all.
I don't want to even contemplate having an actual worm in my ear and that's all I can think of when I hear that word.
It's almost as bad as "fungible."

Fungible Earworms

cries

The scientific term for this is apparently Involuntary Musical Imagery ... so let's go with that instead.

I reversed my performance of "Opening" by Philip Glass. I plan on listening to the droning, organ-like effect multiple times throughout the evening whilst shouting "BE GONE HORRIBLE 80'S MUSIC."

We shall find out the results of my experiment in the morning.

it happens to me very sometimes, though not with music and sounds as much since I am not a music creator... But it happens with thoughts, sensations, and ideas, and it can be very invasive
