Yesterday, I posted my entry for the Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 50 which was JS Bach's Nun komm', der Heiden Heiland, BWV 599. This recording is another setting of the Nun komm'—this time by J. H. Buttstedt.

Buttstedt was a student of Johann Pachelbel and was also a German, born in Bindersleben and died in Erfurt (1666-1727). Buttstedt's only surviving music is the _Musicalische Clavier-Kunst und Vorraths-Kammer of 1713 which only included two marches and a handful of chorale preludes. Since the piece I have recorded is only for manuals, I decided to use the "Green Positiv" aka "Green Machine" instrument by Stanisław Pielczyk (sampled by Piotr Grabowski).

The specification is as follows:

MANUAL
Flet kryty 8'
Pryncypał 4' (borrowed)
Flet kryty 4'
Pryncypał 2'
Kwinta 1 1/3' (borrowed)

It's a very cute looking and portable instrument which is available for hire (Poland). I hope to present more recordings on the Green Machine in the future! The piece only goes for just over a minute...have a listen and let me know what you think. The single 8' Flute was used as the registration.

Yours truly,
@contrabourdon
