I think the simplest explanation is that Justin saw huge value in Steem without looking at the fine detail yet. It was a bargin to buy out @ned IF you have millions to spare.
I wouldn't get too excited about Tron and Steem swapping or merging, Steem is far too unique a project to just roll over into another one. Lets just see what happens if this place gets busier.

Yeah, for sure. Steem has a very big potential to grow. We could do it even without Justin. Maybe slower, but at least we could be sure that everything will be ok with steem. Now we are not sure about that and it's hard to be in such situation. But, we can just keep doing what we were doing to not lose the opportunity if steem will really survive and go viral.
Steem wasn't going anywhere with Steemit crawling along with no cash and nobody spending significant money on marketing.
We don't know if there will be big spending on Steem, but at least we know there is a chance right now.
Yeah, for sure. I'm glad we have that chance now !
