¿Y si hacemos unas galletas tipo polvorosas…..?......Esp-Eng

Greetings to this wonderful community—because we eat with our eyes first, and then when we make the recipes others share here and the ones we share here as well.
I’ve already posted recipes for some cookies—it’s hard to believe, but cookies are trending right now. Recipes are being sold online and via WhatsApp at affordable prices, and there are several varieties. We can also find easy, simple, and delicious recipes on social media—ideal for starting a business or for a snack at home, especially when you have kids, even if they’re already grown up but still love cookies.
On TikTok, my son found this cookie recipe. Since it doesn’t call for any hard-to-find ingredients—and I had everything on hand—I made them.
150 grams of white sugar.
150 grams of vegetable shortening (I used margarine).
250 grams of self-rising flour.
½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

In addition to the utensils: mixing bowl, wooden spoon, electric mixer, baking sheet.
-Since my daughter and I make different kinds of sweets and cakes, we have a plastic bowl dedicated solely to that purpose—it’s the best.
-For crumbly cookies—the kind that melt in your mouth or crumble easily—you should always use vegetable shortening or lard, but you can substitute margarine, which is what I used.
-First, we mix the margarine and sugar. This time, the recipe says to use a mixer, though you can also use a spatula—but I used the mixer to test it out. I used the lowest speed.

-Beat until the mixture is creamy and the first ingredients are well combined.

-Next, add the vanilla extract and ground cinnamon. Continue beating with the mixer; the color of the mixture will change due to the colors of these ingredients.

-You can also use all-purpose wheat flour, but make sure it’s self-rising; don’t add any extra baking powder—the baking powder already in the flour is enough.
-But for this step, don’t use the mixer anymore, so as not to strain it or kick up too much flour dust; instead, use a wooden spatula.
-I divided the flour into several portions and sifted them one by one through a sieve. Once all the flour was sifted, I mixed everything well with the spatula.

-To make the dough firmer, finish kneading it by hand.

-Find a plastic bag that seals tightly, and store it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
-The dough weighed 540 grams, so you’ll have an idea of what size and weight to make them.

-While the dough was in the fridge, grease and flour the baking sheet.
-After 30 minutes, take the dough out of the fridge and the plastic bag, and knead it a little more by hand.

-Since the total weight was 540 grams, I made them into portions of approximately 20 grams each, using my digital scale to help me.

-I shaped them into little balls and then flattened them as if they were mini arepas. I ended up with 27 in total; if you want more, just double the amount of ingredients, or you can make them lighter—about 10 grams each—to make mini ones.

-Then, use a fork and knife to make some marks on top, and bake them at 180 °C for 15 to 20 minutes.

-Once the 20 minutes are up and they’re golden brown, I take them out of the oven and let them cool on the same baking sheet; with a few gentle taps, they’ll come off on their own.

-You can leave these cookies as is or decorate them with some icing or a mixture of powdered sugar and ground cinnamon sprinkled on top; then they’ll be ready to eat.

-Here are some other tips for these cookies: Instead of vanilla, you can use the zest of a lemon or orange, and you can leave out the cinnamon.
Since my birthday is coming up, I’m going to make these cookies and some others—I’ll share the recipes for those later, including the cake recipe.
