Genesis 24:19-23

Abraham's servant has now seen the girl that will be Isaac's wife. He is waiting for her to do and say all that he had prayed she would. He had set certain parameters, things that she would do or say, in order to know that God was picking the right girl.

Continuing

"When she had finished giving him a drink, she said, "I will draw water for your camels also, until they have finished drinking." So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough and ran again to the well to draw water, and she drew for all his camels. The man gazed at her in silence to learn whether the Lord had prospered his journey or not.

When the camels had finished drinking, the man took a gold ring weighing a half shekel, and two bracelets for her arms weighing ten gold shekels, and said, "Please tell me whose daughter you are. Is there room in your father's house for us to spend the night?"

He is now sure that she is the one. When she goes to her parents and they see the gold she is wearing, there will be questions. Gifts are the first step before inquiring about a marriage contract.

The story continues next week as the girl's brother comes out to meet the servant.
