The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 22, Post #1

Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.

Genesis 22:1-5

Welcome to a new chapter in Genesis. So much happens in this first book of the Tanakh.

This is the beginning of the most difficult request ever given by YHVH. I have known people who deny the existence of God simply because of this one story. As the cover says, he was to sacrifice his one and only son whom he loved.

After that request, he rose up in the morning and took some men, a donkey and his son. He split wood for the offering and went to the place God had told him.

On the third day, he looked up and saw the place off in the distance. He told the men who were with them, "Stay here with the donkey and I will go up there with the boy to worship and we will return to you."

The faith exhibited in saying we will return is unprecedented.

The story continues next as Abraham tells his son that God will provide a lamb...
