Corona Virus

The corona virus pandemic is if anything growing stronger and I see no end to this, here we are just starting with 36 cases, this will probably explode in the very near future and this country sure isn't even close to prepared for that number of patients. So I guess we are in for a very hard time.

I also noticed President Trump has declared that he expects most of the US to be back to normal by April 12th, a huge gamble considering he is running for re election and a surge of this pandemic before that date would be a huge upset for him. Of course considering conspiracy theories perhaps he knows that the pandemic will be over by then, in which case he would have all but won the election.

Another thing I notice is the lack of equipment to handle this emergency in the more developed countries, these are the ones with the big numbers and except for Iran other third world countries don't quite compare with those numbers. Certainly it could be that the virus has not yet gained momentum in these third world countries, or perhaps after all, the heat does contain it. But back to the developed countries I find it amazing that they all have so small numbers of respirators and ventilators, especially in the USA where there are 50,000 flu deaths every year.

And if you look at the numbers not a single country has seen even 1% of its population infected. Kind of makes me think where these developed nations are sending their health care funds to. Could it be the military? I certainly would cut military budgets to a fifth of what they are now and spend that money on education and health.

All we can do for now is hope this pandemic is over soon and that the economic impact is not that great, because in those cases it is the poor and the weak who are most hurt.
