Let's Not Defund The Police, Let's Defund The State

Hey Jessactivists

As the protests heat up and start to fragment into various groups all with their agenda and demands, I've seen one compelling call, and that is to defund the police. I find this a fascinating call, that I don't think people understand the gravity of it yet.

Having no police can and will allow criminals and opportunists to run wild of that I have no doubt, but why do we have so many criminals and people desperate enough to turn to crime?

We're currently in a tizzy, as government suck up the wealth and give it to corporates we see more crime, more crime calls for more police and heavy-handed policing, it sees an overcapitalisation of the police and inefficient use of funds.

This is true of the police; it's true of the army, it's true of every state-owned enterprise. The bottom line here is governments waste YOUR Money. The government doesn't have money they either tax you directly or indirectly through deficit spending, also known as inflation.

Your vote has been stripped and made worthless

There was a time where governments had less power, before central banking when they had to convince the people that they needed funding to act. They would sell government bonds to the citizens to raise funds for civil services or wars; this was when the real democratic vote was being used not this farce we see today.

Today your vote means nothing, it's worthless, without the full weight of financial backing what does your vote do besides provide useless statistics for the media to promote.

Protect and SERVE the customer

Governments like the police are there to protect and serve their citizens who fund them, but they are doing anything but, there is such a disconnect between the service provider and the citizen that it could be two different worlds at this point.

I feel that there is no incentive for governments to protect and serve only to pander to it; there is no incentive to improve their service only to promise to think about doing it.

Defunding of the state

The state under the current policy has near-endless resources; they can keep printing and using inflation to their benefit and push us further into an economic gulag. The concentration of power and wealth for them and concentration camps for us and the fences of those camps are slowly getting closer and closer.

State of urgency before the state of emergency

We're in a state of flux right now, and there is a need for action and urgency before we end up in civil wars. The movements are fragmented and directionless and need a way to push forward, and I feel that starting by taking money out of the government's hands is a great way to get them to listen or fund and form our governments.

I'm not sure what's going to happen with all this, but I feel that if we want to be heard we need backing and support, we can't do that with the current financial system. We need to find another way to protect our wealth to combine and collaborate our purchasing power and push for change.

Have your say

What do you good people of HIVE think? Can we remove government power?

So have at it my Jessies! If you don't have something to comment, comment "I am a Jessie."

Well they're giving us just cause to do so, I can't see this ending any other way than people moving their value into something not centrally controlled and calling bullshit

hasan minhaj just had an episode on ranked choice voting; probably not the complete solution but def. could help. defund all police and military by 50% NOW! we're finally having the discussions we could never have because the youth DON'T BUY THE BULLSHIT anymore and can see with young, clear eyes. so much dysfunction, not the world we want for our kids or grandkids

I've never been convinced on voting or voter turn out being the issue, I feel like voting should be a choice based on the benefits like if you want to opt-in for paying tax and state benefits claim your vote, if not move to an autonomous region in your country.

Then those that do vote it shouldn't be one party rules over another but 2 parties perhaps each representative works together in a vice president/president role of two different parties to try and reduce collusion. I'm so deeply disillusioned though I feel they'll even find a way to fuck that up but worth a shot I guess

I hope the wake up movement continues, I think driving change now is needed more than EVER! THis is our great war

Let's also not be fooled by these (current) Fake Anarchists, who are really communists. As for me, I think what we all need is a concerted move to MINARCHY...

Oh I think so too, It's a few people stirring the pot and getting people to be outraged and focused on the wrong things so they commit their energies to fake change that gets them nowhere and never actually aiming at the right targets

Defunding the police is defunding the state.
If cops don't get paid, they don't show up.
If they don't show up, we stop paying taxes.
If we stop paying taxes, the state just goes away.
If they tried to fund the state entirely via inflation, we'd just use sound money, with no police to stop us.

Yeah the police are the enforcers of the fiat system and is a great first step in defunding the state, but depending on the country you're in there's also things like state-owned enterprises in water, energy, media, travel that could all do with budget cuts as they waste tax revenue on services providing costlier production year over year
