A little googly story

avatar

The calm and lazy August-evening was disturbed by a jolt of sudden enthousiasm, as my six year old son came rushing towards me: "Dad! Dad! Do you still have those googlyeyes? I need two of them, I really need them!"

I had talked about #googlyeyes and made photo's and even a few posts here on steemit with him, but it all had been a long time ago - and even though it was always a lot of fun, I had grown out of it a bit. So I was a bit wary to ask him why he now so desperately needed googlyeyes. "I'll show you, dad, I just need two, please!"

Although pretty much unused for the past year, the box in which I keep my googlyeyes is never far out of reach, and I opened it in front of my son, and I saw his eyes growing and googlying (if that could even be a word!)

He quickly took two of the biggest eyes and together we pried the film off of the glue on the back so he could stick them to whatever it was he had in mind. I couldn't pry it off fast enough and as soon as it was off he rushed back in the house.

"There!" Standing on the tips of his toes, I saw him pushing the eyes on the wall of our living-room. It was just a bit too high for his height and the two eyes fell back off. I picked them up, and carefully put them back at the spots I'd seen where he wanted them to stick.

That's our thermostat!
My son, now content, said: "Now do you see why I needed them? Isn't it brilliant!? Hahaha, the eyes and the mouth, it's just awesome, dad!"

He went back to the couch and his comic books, googlysatisfied (now that's a novel word, right?) and content to have made a contribution to the googlyworld.

Now the calm and lazy August-evening has returned, as I'm sitting here, with a smile, and how I raised my eldest, to always be on the lookout for a good and hilarious #eyebomb.

Disclaimer: any and all rewards of this post will go to my eldest son's creative toys - likely to be lego, or (comic) books. It's really his story and discovery, although he can't post it yet. Thanks!

btw, what's the "cocktail" setting for?! there's a party-mode for the thermostat?

Hehe, yeah, it's the mode for 'staying up late' and letting it heat the house longer. Apparently Viesmann associates that with cocktailparties. I guess that's how they do it at their offices... The other is the Piggy-bank-setting, for freezing your ass off while you put the saved money in the bank. With which you can pay for their ultra-high-end-expensivo heating system I guess...
Nah, j/k, we're really happy with it :P
