A Visit to Karang Sewu Beach

I like to make time to bring my family for a trip, even if it is only a short one, just around my island. When they have great times on the trip, my children will always remember their experiences in the future. It's all about collecting great memories.

On the last Saturday, I went out to go out to Karang Sewu Bay. It's a bay or a beach located in the most western tip of Bali island. It's about 30 minutes away from where I live. The bay has been opened again for visitors after a few months of closure due to the COVIS-19.

Arriving at the entrance of the bay area, there was a ticket booth where visitors are expected to pay an entrance ticket. I paid for the entrance and for car parking before the staff allowed me in. Inside, it looked like a park. There was a grass field with some trees growing in certain areas.

I haven't seen the beach yet because it's about 5 minutes walk away to reach it. There was a walking path that I could take to get there.

There were only a few visitors that day. The park was very quiet. According to a local shop owner that I found behind the bush 😊, it's been very quiet for a long time.

karang_sewu_bay_5.jpgI walked and got closer to the beach.

karang_sewu_bay_7.jpgThere was no sand on the beach only dead corals along the shore.

Arriving at the beach, I realized there was no sand at all on the shore. No wonder this beach is called Karang Sewu which means thousands of corals. It's not just coral, but there were also lots of volcanic rock that we had to walked carefully there.

In one spot of the beach, there was a jetty like building stood up firmly on the water. There were some people on that platform taking photos of the bay and the forest nearby. I took my family to that spot since that spot looked great.

karang_sewu_bay_16.jpg I went to the jetty.

karang_sewu_bay_17.jpg Some people were waiting for a boat tour to the "three islands."

There was a fisherman who approached me and asked if I would like to for a boat trip around the bay. I did not plan to go on a boat ride so I refused. Another reason for me not to go is that the heavy rain further away on the bay.

There were some people who decided to take the offer and they went on to the boat. The fisherman told me if I changed my mind, I had to wait for the boat because there was only one boat. I said no thanks.

karang_sewu_bay_18.jpg The boat tour is commenced, I saw no life jacket on the boat.

We spent some time on the jetty enjoying the panorama and the boat going away from the jetty. Five minutes later we left the place walking across the grass field. This time we took a different way passing "the Bali myna monument." Bali Myna or Leucopsar rothschildi is the native endangered Bali bird found mostly in the west forest of Bali.

That's all about my short trip to Karang Sewu Bay in west Bali. Thanks.
