Chicken Teriyaki

My husband’s nephews are craving for Japanese Dish Tonight. They requested Chicken Teriyaki for dinner. Good thing this dish have minimal ingredients and they are already available in the pantry.

INGREDIENTS

1 kg chicken any parts
5 cloves garlic chopped
1 red onion chopped
2 tsp ground black pepper
5 pcs dried bay leaves
2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp sesame oil
sesame seeds

PROCEDURE

  • Boil water in a cooking pot. Put the garlic, onion, bay leaves, and black pepper. Simmer for 3 minutes.

  • Throw in the chicken meat. Cook for 20 minutes. Imagine the herbs and spices are infusing through the chicken. Yum!

  • Drained the cooked chicken and let it rest for a while, maybe 5 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, heat oil in wok, and deep fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy.

  • For the sauce, mix the honey,soy sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Stir.

  • Heat pan, and melt the butter.

    I love the smell every time I do this

  • Then add the sauce mixture.

  • Stir continuously until the sauce slightly thickens or caramelized.

  • Add now the fried chicken and coat well with the sauce.

  • Transfer in a platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.

Isn’t it gorgeous? The kids loved it. It’s rewarding when they gave the most honest judgement everytime we cook.

Sadly, I can’t eat this because of my allergy.
