GIANT TAHITIAN BUTTERNUT!

Hey everyone, I trust you are having an amazing weekend so far? For new years day my Uncle invited me over for dinner. I thought why not bring him one of my amazing Tahitian Butternuts to add to the dinner spread, and so I did just that!

This pic I took just outside my front door with my Reapers in the backdrop, compared to my arm rather large, certainly bigger than the traditional store purchased cream coloured commercial butternuts!

This was literally one of the largest butternuts I have ever seen and sweeter still grew myself. These plants take a while to germinate and grow, but once they get 'on the roll' they don't stop and for the season produce many huge butternuts regularly, given the right soil conditions/nutrients etc, these plants also love LOTS of water, so daily watering is a must!

I am having a child in a month so thought why not have a little practice? I took this pic for my family and sent to them on whatsapp @buckaroo? ;)

Butternuts are generally tough and need to be peeled and pips removed. Giant Tahitian Butternuts need not as they are incredibly tender and soft. Simply cut in slices, skin pips and oil. Add a little olive oil, salt pepper and Feta Cheese and Bake. Mozzarella, Cheddar, or Gouda also work really nicely and taste great too!

Above and below the plant I harvested this gorgeous fruit from. Large leaves very healthy flowers and a massive producer of these highly nutritious fruit. I currently have around 7 different Tahitian Butternuts producing more by the week. We are now at a point where we have started giving them away to family and friends. Maybe this is a sign for me to get into commercial heirloom farming? The thought has crossed my mind many times in the last few months!

Dinner served with Naked Burgers (A tradititional Burger without the bun) vegetables and this incredible butternut served up on wooden plates 'Africa Style' Looks delicious right? It truly was!

I trust you have a really cool weekend.
Cheer$;)
