The Sweet Potato vines are starting to show some life

When I placed the cuttings in the ground they didnt do much for awhile. Though now there are new vines coming up from where I placed them.

I'm hoping I can train the vines to climb up the lattice i have them next to. That way they can grow up over 10 feet straight up.

Some of the cuttings are smaller than others but I decided to place them about two feet apart.

Maybe in a few weeks the vines will be big enough to climb up and start getting alot of light. I planted some not so close to the lattice and they are having trouble reaching it. Maybe eventually its vines will make it's way to the light.

I have to admit I did not know they had vines like that. I had not thought too much about it, but assumed they would be something like regular potato plants. Hope they do well.

Sweet potatoes are much more vine like than other kinds of potatoes. Last year I just let them fill up the raised beds. So no idea if they will grow up a trellis like I want.

Sweet potato vines typically do not creep up @solominer but they do like sunshine and lots of it plus lots of daily watering too. If they get those they will produce big tubers guaranteed :D

Ah gotcha, I may have to train them to grow up. If they dont do it naturally maybe I can encourage them.

My potted tomato plant is fruiting, and so is my potted Green Bell Pepper plant! I love watching them grow. Ih, and I planted two Japanese eggplants too! Be sure to keep us updated with your Sweet Potatoes. I love sweet potatoes!

Oh nice! Our tomato plants look pretty sad right now but maybe they will catch up.

Best of luck with your plants, and thanks for the comment.
