Our Sweet Potato yields: Over fifteen Pounds
We guessed how many pounds of Potatoes before we started, vastly underestimated the yield. We thought we would get three to six pounds since only one Sweet Potato was planted in early spring. But as soon as we started digging we quickly past our estimations.

Lovely Logic holding the largest spud I dug up, Ive never seen such a large Sweet Potato.
Next to all the vines we pulled up, and our buckets of Potatoes.
Just holding them we pretty surreal, the weight that was produced was quite amazing.
A close up of the vines growing on top of the Sweet Potatoes. Frost damage can be seen on some of the leaves, so it was the perfect time to harvest.
They grew for over six months, from end of frost in April till November.
Later on I learned I could eat the vines, but did not keep them at the time.
The bed, empty after I pulled up all the spuds and removed the vines. I placed the yanked up vines back in the bed to break back down into the soil. It would seem a mix of hay and soil worked quite well for the Sweet Potatoes. Maybe it also has to do with the logs Ive buried into the raised bed making long term fertilizer.
Im planning on starting with three beds for Sweet Potatoes next year and one for White/Yellow Potatoes. Excited to grow them again next year.

@sagesigma thanks much, nah we are not much of alcohol drinkers. But maybe as a science experiment it would be fun... hah maybe I'll like it more if I make my own. Good idea!

sounds fun! I picked up some book called (I think) The Alaskan Bootlegger's Guide to Booze, and it had a bunch of recipes that fermented out veggies and tree syrups...I'll have to see if there is recipe for sweet potatoes

i made a tomato wine out of my wife's excess crop from our garden with that book...not bad, really. Maybe I could refine it, bottle it, and sell it for Steem - ha

In our Bangladesh these are called 'tree potatoes'. This potato is below ground. Again the leaves are spaced out. However, under the soil, the potatoes grow much larger. Each potato weighs 200 grams to 20 kg. We have trees in our house.

@toufiq777 oh wow I would love to see pictures if your tree potatoes. Where I live we get freezing weather so they cannot live year around. But sounds like where you live you have perennial potato plants.. super cool! Good to see you again @toufiq777

@solominer Very nice, I love free food. My husband grows sweet potatoes and this is what he does. We do not need many sweet potatoes so he plants one whole sweet potato and when the sprouts get anywhere from 10 to 15 inches he cuts them and plants each sprout you get 4 or 5 sprouts from one potato so if you want more, plant more whole potatoes. He says doing this yields more sweet potatoes. He researched this and found this is what the growers do. We get more than enough for two people. Good luck to your next growing season.
@myjob thank you, I cannot remember at the beginning of the season if I cut up a few with eyes and placed them in the ground or if I placed them whole. Sounds like based on your husband's experience using whole sweet potatoes is the way to go.
We are planning on growing them in a few more beds next year since we did so well with them this year.
