Steem Gaming Community Announcement

(Edited)

Hello gamers! It's been a long time since I made an official post for the SGC. After a great year filled with competitions and tournaments came the day where I moved abroad and had to leave my PC behind me. What I thought would be a short few months, quickly turned into a year and that brings us to where we are now. In the beginning of my abscence a lot happened on Steem that would affect the gaming community. From streaming platforms moving to more centralized alternatives to a bear market that would extend to lengths unimagineable by the community.

I still remember sitting in my hotel room watching the AMA by a CEO of a certain streaming platform that would make me cringe harder than years of watching videos on r/cringe have been able to. It was simply an embarrassment to the crypto community that we had grown to love. As I sat there with my potato laptop trying to figure out my next move, time passed on and the computer that I was going to get after just a few months seemed further and further away.

Finally about a month ago I got my PC again and that brings us to now. Anyone who has been in the SteemGC Discord server knows that it's very quiet at this point. My plan is to change that as I still see the same potential in this community as I did when I first launched it years ago.
Some changes do have to be made though and I want to get started on those as soon as possible. We have however kept curating as much as possible during my time of "abscence" so as not to waste the Steem power that I have delegated to that project.

I realize that the gaming community on Steem is not what it used to be but I want to try and change that and make it into the same fun place where gamers could get to know other gamers that had similar interests and work together.
I still remember our second CS:GO tournament and see it as the best time we had with SGC. Players came together and we created something that people were actually excited for.

I've been trying to figure out the best way to "restart" the community but thinking about it hasn't really brought me anywhere so I decided to just start doing instead. First off I want to clean up the server and adjust it to todays needs. We have a few competitions and tournaments in mind aswell but those will come after a bit when we have a clearer picture of activity/users on the platform.
I think the gamers on Steem have always kept together and helped eachother out and I think we need to keep doing that to thrive. Luckily we still have Vimm where Steemians can keep streaming and it gladens me that we still have a platform to organize potential tournaments and other competitions.

I have also spoken to OCD who have recently started their own gaming group called TeamOCD about working together on some things. I am really excited to get started on all of this and I have high hopes for where it will take our great gaming community on this platform.
I realize times have been hard for many people on here lately but I think we need to remind ourselves that it is only we who can change that.

We went ahead and created the SteemGC (Steem Gaming - Community) https://beta.steemit.com/roles/hive-140217 so if you are reading this and haven't checked out the beta site with communities yet, go login and subscribe to ours. We will have a mod team checking through posts there and curating them accordingly. Steem Gaming Community will be about the majority of games that don't fit in any other communities, all kinds of content as long as it's about gaming, such as screenshots, highlight clips, reviews, discussions, trailers, etc.

With communities we expect the post count of authors to rise as once it's released posts posted into a certain community won't show up on your blog unless you re-steem them. This will give people a lot more freedom to post whatever they want without changing the theme of the history of their posts. We are looking forward to how communities will change the way we Steem!

IRVINE, Calif. and BEND, Ore., Oct. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Technology startup InfluenceInk announced today its newest initiative, INK Games™️, a digital and mobile gaming business unit targeting gamers, online users and social influencers. INK Games is launching its platform where users own zip codes and postal codes on a growing, global map. The company is building engaging, digital games that incentivize user sign-ups and reward influencers for their role in building game communities, and users for their ongoing participation. Early participants can purchase zip codes — effectively, digital real estate — and earn rewards based on the users and activities within each postal code as the game world grows. The company expects an exclusive, first zip code drop to go live in Q4 with a limited number of US zip codes available initially, with all zip codes and global postal codes becoming available in subsequent asset drops.
INK Games offers an innovative new model of game building and design which puts users first. According to Chief Executive Officer Robert Towles, "This is particularly important at a time when game companies and development studios are reaping massive profits by leveraging the relationships of their users."
"We believe that users and influencers can — and should — get paid for every person they invite and every in-game activity they are connected to."
"We reward users for on-boarding other users — in perpetuity," Towles remarked. "That's the way it should be."
The company expects to supercharge a user's income earning potential through a mix of proprietary technology and payout modeling. Every user will have a unique referral code embedded in their user profile that can be shared. The company utilizes custom built software to track the reach of the code and pay users accordingly and transparently, for life.
Towles also noted that the company will apply a tracking algorithm that actively searches for user and network connections, effectively supercharging the user's viral reach. These cross-connecting network maps are built as users join. User rewards aren't just limited to direct invitations, either. Their reach and rewards accelerate as whole network connectivity grows.
Recognizing the rise of influencer driven marketing, gaming and social media's dominance in today's digital age, INK Games address the need for a gamified, globally-accessible platform to monetize social reach and create richer, loyalty-enhancing game experiences.
About INK Games
INK Games targets gamers, online users and social influencers. The company is building a first-of-its-kind game platform where users can "buy" territories in the form of postal codes, which represent ownership in the platform's gaming universe. As the company builds games — and launches other game publishers' games on the platform — users will share in the economic activity of users, activities, and assets inside their territories.
The company's aim is to build engaging, digital games that incentivize user sign-ups and reward influencers for their role in building game communities, while providing an economic reward to users for their ongoing participation. For more information visit INKGames.io.

As far as I know we do have Apex gamers in the community! If you aren't already a member you are welcome to join us. Here is an invite link https://discord.gg/xghARvX . Keep in mind though as I mentioned in the post it is a bit quiet at the moment.

I wonder if it's possible to organize a tournament for Apex, that would be really fun!

Ok, this looks pretty good! This is the first time I've heard of a gaming community here at Steem, so it would be interesting to be able to participate around here.

I have a little doubt: I'm a LoL player, but I play on the Latin American (North) server. If you do a lol tournament will it be on the North American server?

It's actually pretty funny that you ask because we did organize a LoL tournament in the past and I @strawhat was the commentator which didn't go so well because I've never played a single game of LoL myself haha. It was a bit of a disaster in my opinion but the viewers seemed to enjoy it anyways.

To answer your question though, if we do have enough players from the region we will absolutely organize more tournaments!

Being a commentator on a game you don't know about? I'd pay to see that hahaha. LoL is a very entertaining game, making tournaments of that game is relatively easy.

But, anyway I'll keep an eye on the type of game where you'll make tournaments to see if I can play it on my calculator and participate haha. Thank you for solving my question 🧡

There are multiple gaming communties here on Steemit, most of them are on Discord like this one. If you looked up the tags used in posts with the #gaming tag you'll find them.

I believe having a Discord account is essential to get noticed on Steem!

I have been on Steem for almost 2 years now and watched as the price crashed and people left . However communities have still survived.
It’s great that we have several gaming communities here and I see a lot of crossover.
@archdruid, @Steem-ace, @battlegames and of course @steemgc.
There are also more that I’m aware of and apart of. But these are the main ones outside of those that focus on Splinterlands.
With the fact that we have lost a lot of traffic over time it would be great to see these communities work together to help the gaming community grow in this quiet time and that way when traffic increases we will all still be here.
I for one would love to see a SGC vs battlegames battle or a tournament where communities battle it out for a prise and of course those bragging rights.
What do you guys think is it something that interests you ?

That is a great idea and I think it would be really exciting to have that kind of tournament. I will have to reach out to the different communities and see what we can cook up :) thanks for showing interest. Gamers can easily create a lot of exciting stuff when working together!

Glad you're making a progress with this community. Since I have limited tags, this is not my go to community for gaming on Steem but I'll be happy if you did great things to make it the No.1!

I would love to communicate with an HIVE GAMING admin/Mod.I have uploaded a post (that I already deleted) from my boyfriend and one of my best friend Javie Er, about videogames, someone has unjustifiably reported me, I have uploaded these posts with the authorization of both people, someone who read the same post outside of HIVE misinterpreted it and accused me of scammer, however it has not been any plagiarism as it is 100% authorized by said creators. They have even helped me in the realization of the post. is there anything that can be done to remove the tag7label ? thanks.
