Destiny 2: Festival of the Lost 2020

As we continues to await the next expansion of Destiny 2 after its reported delay, Bungie has provided us with another annual iteration of their Halloween event called Festival of the Lost. This is a long tradition from Bungie that dates back from Destiny 1 where in game activities are mixed with some fun across the game. In this annual event, we have the opportunity to put on masks of characters from the game in search of candy and chocolate (yes, that) to turn in for some gear that is mostly cosmetic in nature.

While not the most entertaining event, at least it has provided some opportunity for things to do as we prepare for the upcoming expansion. The event provides a limited time activity called the Haunted Forest which we go through waves of destinations defeating enemies to arrive at bosses to conquer. Players have 15 minutes to get as far as they can before turning in their earned resources for chests at the end of the activity. However, the community has had mixed opinions as brand new gear has been limited. Only cosmetic gear has been new to the loot pool as everything else is the same from the past.

Despite the mixed opinions, the fact that the event came in between expansion launches and new seasons was great for players seeking for something to do. I think that the delay in the upcoming expansion also impacted the Event as it was supposed to be part of the new Season and content. That is why it is probably lackluster in its offering considering the new items that would have been available if launched during the new expansion. We are now less than a month from the new expansion so time will tell.
