Sustainability Week event with Binacle and Shiny Trubbish release

There is currently a Sustainability Week event going on in Pokémon GO. This event is in partnership with the Niantic Sustainability Campaign. Niantic invites all their players and community members to join them in supporting our planet, one action at a time. This year they're focusing on the big impact that intentional, individual actions can make on combating climate change and caring for our planet in sustainable ways. And in doing so also allowing their players to earn in-game rewards. A bit more on this later.

Within Pokémon GO several Pokémon like Grimer, Drilbur, Trubbish and Ferroseed appear more in the wild. As Grimer and Trubbish are quite dirty, there are Field Research tasks requiring to catch them, which is a way to mimic cleaning up in the real world and bringing that into the game.

Shiny Trubbish has been released with this event, as well as the Two-Handed Pokémon, Binacle, making its debut. In the next screenshot. Here you can see the Pokédex registry.

I haven't been able to play much yet during this event. However I did walk around with two friends during Raid Hour to do several Raids. We had Rainy weather in game during the Raid Hour, even though it was quite good outside so that was quite strange. But this meant that Binacle were weather boosted and that was great. It was amazing in fact, as one of the weather boosted Binacle we encountered going from one Raid to another, turned out to be a 100% IV! 🤩 At this point I didn't even have enough Binacle candy to evolve it, it's been really crazy to encounter a 100% that fast!

Trainers participating in the Niantic Sustainability Challenge can help to unlock in-game rewards too. The first tier that can be unlocked will increase the amount of Five-star Raids during the event. When the second tier is unlocked, a free bundle with 3 Remote Raid Passes will appear in the shop. Unlocking the third tier, will activate a 2x Catch XP bonus.
