The annual Valentine's Day event for Pokémon GO is about to return. It will start at February 14th at 8 am local time and go through February 17th at 10 pm local time. Usually events always started at 1 pm PST, which would be 10 pm for me. With the previous event it also started at 8 am local time on the start day and finished at 10 pm local time on the last day. That seems like a pretty good change in my opinion, as then we have most of the day to play the event. Which seems to me like it's fairer for all timezones.

Just like last year pink coloured Pokémon will be appearing much more in the wild once again, but also in Raids, Eggs and as Field Research task encounters! Two new Pokémon from generation 5, both pink of course, will be added to the game with this event. These are Audino the Hearing Pokémon and Alomomola the Caring Pokémon. Both of them will be spawning in the wild, but are said to be really rare spawns so it might be difficult to encounter them. It'll also be possible to hatch them from 7 km Eggs received during the event. After the event ends they will remain available in the wild, but of course still be incredibly hard to find. Which makes sense as both of these Pokémon could only be encountered in rare shaking grass or water areas in the Black and White games they first appeared in.

Other pink Pokémon will thus also be hatching from 7 km Eggs, the ones announced by Niantic to be hatching from there will be Lickitung, Porygon, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Tyrogue, Smoochum, Luvdisc, Happiny, Audino and Alomomola. It could be possible others will be hatching too that aren't announced in this list.

Some Pokémon will have their Shiny versions added to the game as well as with any event. This time the Chansey family will finally get their Shinies added to the game. Shiny Happiny will be possible to hatch from Eggs once the event starts and it will also be possible to encounter Shiny Chansey in the wild!

Last year's bonuses for Lure Modules will return where they will remain active for 6 hours when activated. It'll only apply to regular Lure Modules though and not for the type-specific ones. We will also get 2x Catch Candy throughout the event.

A few new avatar items with Valentine's Day theme will be added to the Style Shop, all featuring Luvdisc. A Luvdisc Top, Ripped Luvdisc Jeans and Luvdisc Shoes.

This weekend we will get a Raid Day event again, as you can guess it will featured a pink Pokémon to be in style with the event! It's going to be a Lickitung Raid Day, taking place on Saturday February 15th from 2 pm local time through 5 pm local time. As with all Raid Day events we can receive up to 5 additional Raid Passes from spinning the Photodisc of any Gym, or opening a Gym when a Raid is active there when we don't have a Free Raid Pass in our inventory anymore. During the event all Gyms that are eligible will be hosting 4-star Lickitung Raids. These Lickitung will all know the move Body Slam. I believe it's been confirmed by Niantic that evolving Lickitung into Lickilicky during the event will also cause this Lickilicky to know Body Slam. If you're lucky you might even be able to encounter a Shiny Lickitung from the raids, as it will be added to the game then. Afterwards it should also be possible to encounter Shiny Lickitung in the wild or hatch it from Eggs.

I wonder if the same Heart-pattern Spinda, or another one, from last year will be available as a reward from the Make 5 Great Curveball Throws in a Row Field Research task.

Are you looking forward to this event?
