Today, as part of the Lunar New Year event celebrating the Year of the Rat, we had another Field Research Day event. Which is an event that lasts for 3 hours and all quests you spin from Pokéstops are related to the event and they all reward the event's featured Pokémon as an encounter. Which was Minccino today. It is newly added to the game as of today with the event. 5 km Eggs received during the event will also have a higher chance to hatch Minccino. After the event Minccino will remain available from 5 km Eggs. I'm not certain if it will also be available in the wild afterwards as that was not mentioned in Niantic's post about it. We shall have to find out.

This event lasted today from 2 pm through 5 pm local time. During this time all Pokéstops give a Minccino Field Research task with assignments like Make 2 Great Throws In A Row, 5 Curveball Throws, Catch 5 Normal-Type Pokémon, Catch a Pikachu, Minun or Plusle, and several others. During the event Pokémon that fit the Year of the Rat theme appeared more frequently as well, which were Rattata, Raticate, Pikachu, Sandshrew, Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Sentret, Marill, Zigzagoon, Plusle, Minun, Bidoof, and Patrat. Although I didn't see any Raticate in the wild, but there were only Party Hat Raticate and a few Heatran Raids. So I guess they let Raticate show up more frequently this way.

I didn't play before the event started, so that I could get a Minccino Field Research task from all the Pokéstops in my neighbourhood. I went outside a bit past 2 pm to start playing. The first quest that I solved was to Spin 2 Pokéstops. Easy as I had 3 open slots for quests so I could just spin 3 Pokéstops to get 3 Minccino quests immediately. So it didn't take long before I had my first Minccino encounter. Here is a picture of its Pokédex registry after I caught my first one!

Throughout the event I walked around quite a bit. Anytime I had 3 quests active I would try to solve at least one of them before moving on, unless I was pretty certain I'd be able to solve one of the active ones by the time I got to the next Pokéstop. These Limited Research events always have a higher Shiny encounter chance for the Pokémon featured in it, sometimes I still didn't get one but for Minccino I was able to get 2 as you can see both of my Shiny encounters in this photo.

At the start of the event I saw a bunch of people I know and talked with them a bit. Later I walked around alone to kinda decide my own route to go for Pokéstops in the city. One of the friends I often walk around with didn't seem really interested in going out for the event this time. He messaged me in the morning saying he didn't really wanna do one with Research tasks today and early afternoon said he didn't have time anyway. I told him the event was from 2 pm till 5 pm today, as he thought it was from 11 am through 2 pm like Community Day events. Didn't hear from him about walking around so I guess he still didn't really have an interest in it.

When there were about 30 minutes or a bit less left I came across someone we sometimes see when walking around and who has joined a Raid a few times. This happened when I was in the shopping street on my way to the local park to spin the Pokéstops there and spin some in the city centre that I didn't pass by yet. He joined me for a while then until we came at a Pokéstop where we had to go in two different directions due to having finished quests in different areas.

In the next picture you can see my Minccino Pokédex entry after the event and after trading. You can also see the Minccino I had left after the event.

My Pokédex shows 60 Minccino seen and caught. This is of course not entirely true, because receiving a Minccino from a trade adds +1 to the Pokédex. As you can see I have 4 Lucky Minccino, 2 Minccino and 2 Shiny Minccino. Both of the regular ones are caught from the quests and not traded. That makes 4 Minccino that I didn't trade and I did trade all the rest of those I caught. We can thus subtract 4 from my total caught Minccino and then divide that by 2 to find out how many I caught in total from the Field Research tasks. Which is 60 - 4 = 56 / 2 = 28. So I caught 28 Minccino from Field Research tasks today, that's not bad! A 100% IV from the Field Research would have to be 374 CP, my highest is 368 CP. Even with the 4 Lucky ones I received I didn't get a better one. At least it'll still be available so I can still encounter a 100% IV later on. Right now I haven't evolved any Minccino yet. Since Cinccino can't spawn in the wild due to requiring an evolution item for evolving I might evolve a Lucky and/or Shiny one to have Lucky and/or Shiny Cinccino in my Pokédex. I'm debating whether or not I should try to trade one of the Shiny Minccino tomorrow, but it might be better to do so on a Lucky Trade.

I did do a Special Trade today for a Legendary Pokémon. It was just a regular trade as I'm not currently Lucky Friends with anyone. Nevertheless still did get a Lucky from the trade. In this trade we traded a Latias and that one became Lucky. I was rather unlucky when it comes to the stats though, as you can see in the picture below it has 12/12/12 for stats, so still far from a 100% IV. But it is my first Lucky Latias so I now have it Lucky in my Pokédex! :D
