Board Games Galore, The Benefits of Board Games

(Edited)

I am a precious metals stacker. That simply means that I save in silver and gold.

But precious metals are not the only stuff that I enjoy.

I also like playing board games, and so does a group of my friends. And when they come to visit, we are at it for hours.

This article is for my stacking sister, @kerrislravenhill! Perhaps someday, we will get to play board games together!

A corner in my family room for Board Games.

Do you play board games?

One of the benefits and effects of board games is laughter! Laughter increases endorphins, a chemical in our body that is known to raise up the feeling of happiness.

I have board games and puzzles for my friends' children as well. They play board games while the adults do the same.

Playing board games, say after a family dinner, is one great way to get together and strengthen your family bond, especially when spending uninterrupted time with your family may be a challenge given the different schedules each family member has.

And yes, playing board games help children develop their logic and reasoning skills, improve critical thinking and boost spatial reasoning. The ability to concentrate and focus for a longer period of time is also developed with just playing board games.

Playing board games benefits memory formation and cognitive skills.

The areas of the brain that are responsible for complex thought and memory formation are the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex. These parts most benefit when playing board games.

Reduces risks for mental diseases- Playing board games, keeps your mind engaged, exercising it and building it stronger. And it’s good to note that stronger brain has lower risks of cognitive decline.

Lowers blood pressure. As playing board games effects to laughing and endorphins, this things can help lower or maintain blood pressure.

Reduce stress. According to an online survey by RealNetworks, Inc., 64% of the respondents said they play games to unwind and relax, whilst 53% play to relieve stress.

Speed up your response. In a study at the University of Toronto, they found out that students who regularly played video games were far quicker in locating than those who don’t. So go get yourself board games like chess, checkers or monopoly and sometime soon you’ll be able to find those hard-to-find car keys without having to search the whole house.

Do you play board games? If you do, what is your favorite board game?

Thank you for viewing this article. I will see you again soon!

Hehehe... I knew that you must be a board game player, dear @dfinney!!! I go for the old board games.. I don't know if it is because of habit, or I am finding it a challenge to learn something new, haha! Thanks for sharing your favorites! Quiplash must be fun!!!
I think I like Machi Koro... why: I like the combination of the strategy of deciding which combinations of buildings I could buy that would make me the most money, and the chance of a dice rolls hoping to ear it big. Also, it's pretty easy to learn so anyone can play. Hehehe... less is more! I may be getting old.
Have a beautiful fay, my dearest dfinney-with-the-most-beautiful-smile! And take care 🥰🌺🤙. Luv ya 😍 !tip

I agree that Board games are fun exercise for the mind and socially beneficial.
Used to be into Dungeons & Dragons tabletop version with the stat sheets, figurines, measuring tape, yadda yadda. Another was Battletech (futuristic giant robot combat and resource management).
Murder mysteries! Whodunnits. I bet most people played CLUE.
Computer games like the Apocalyptic survival genre, "Left 4 Dead" etc
Too many to list.

Hehehe, I knew that you'd love battle games of some sort. The game I enjoy is a money-making-getting-rich game of Machi Koro, it is easy enough yet challenging! And now, I play the online game that I just recently learned... you guessed right: Steemmonsters, hahaha. I think that your moji-you is just so cute!!! I know that you regularly wear a garter on your thigh... perhaps to hold one of your daggesr, hehehe!
Have a restful "weekend", my sweetest sis @kerrislravenhill. Take care 🥰🌺🤙 and a million Hugs and Kisses 🤗💕💋!!!!

Who doesn't love a good games night huh?

I tend to like the old-school ones like Monopoly, Pictionary and Scattegories although I played Cards Against Humanity a while back which wasn't too bad. Bring on an anti-pasta platter, a couple gin and tonics and some board games and I'm content. (With the right company of course.)

WOW... unbelievable... my go-to mixed drink is gin and tonic! Incredible!!!
I love Monopoly and Machi Koro... why: I like the combination of the strategy of deciding which combinations of buildings I could buy that would make me the most money, and the chance of a dice rolls hoping to ear it big. Also, it's pretty easy to learn so anyone can play.
Thanks for being here, my friend @galenkp. I appreciate you. Take care 🥰🌺🤙

I'm not a massive drinker, but a G&T is most welcome here and there...What a coincidence huh? Yeah, Monopoly...I'm an executive in the property industry so it makes sense I like it.

You take care also. Thanks for engaging with me, I greatly appreciate it.

What a large collection of games you have...! 😮 That is absolutely amazing! We played board games when I was a child, and I played them with mine. It's probably been 25–30 years since I played one, though.

Hehehe... it looks like it maybe time to bring out the board games, like once in a while. I like to play a few (only). But some of my friends, as soon as they come, they hit the board games area immediately and go at it, haha. It brings a lot of laughter, for sure!
Have a lovely evening, sweet @thekittygirl, and take care 🥰🌺🤙

I love Monopoly! I tend to like games that are easy to learn and easy to play. Thus I Iike Machi Koro... I like the combination of the strategy of deciding which combinations of buildings I could buy that would make me the most money, and the chance of a dice rolls hoping to earn it big. Also, it's pretty easy to learn so anyone can play. Hehehe... less is more! I may be getting old.

I adore tabletop games. I am quite jealous of your shelf. Lots of classics and new classics. I think my current favorite is probably Quest for El Dorado. It's a good mix of strategy and a bit of luck. It's also very well balanced. Every time I've played it has been a close game.

For a group of 4-6, I like Coup. For a larger group, I like its companion game, The Resistance.

And for a cooperative game, I like Dead of Winter.
