Why Futurama didn't have the success like The Simpsons

In today's post I am going to be discussing why Futurama (An Animated tv series) didn't replicate or come close to the success of the Simpsons and why ultimately was cancelled.

In this post I will be pulling together facts as well as my personal opinions.

Futurama is an animated tv series created by Matt Groening.

Sound familiar? Well Matt Groening is also the creator of the Simpsons arguably the most successful animated TV series ever made with 30+ seasons.

So why did Matt Groening's Futurama show that released 10 years after the Simpsons fall short and eventually get cancelled.

Matt Groening VS Fox

Fox has a big history of cancelling shows, arguing with show creators and annoying lot's of people Matt Groening was no exception to this in fact Matt Groening had many disputes with Fox when when the Simpsons released and well the continued over the years and when Futurama released 10 years after the Simpsons first aired Matt Groening and fox had even more run ins and Futurama was actually cancelled 3 times in total and finally coming to an end in 2013.

Fox and Groening butted heads over Futurama from the very beginning before the show even aired and it was probably doomed from the beginning, According to Groening, Fox seemingly never really wanted Futurama to succeed.

Didn't achieve what the Simpsons did

Futurama wasn't a bad show it attracted tons of viewers and still does to this day. It was great despite being ruined by FOX. and unfortunately it was unable to come close to the success the Simpsons did.

What now for Futurama and could it be revived ?

Although the Simpsons has huge success with it's 30+ seasons and its 600+ episodes many fans complain that the Simpsons isn't what it once was and that the episodes feel empty and rushed out compared to the seasons before could that be a boost to maybe slow down work on the Simpsons and reboot Futurama ?

Rumors have flown around in recent years of a possible new season but with no evidence to suggest this it's unlikely.

Good news is that Futurama is still being shown on many Platforms such as Hulu, Amazon prime video, and some more. I think Disney+ should consider getting Futurama on their platform along side the big hit Simpsons.
