Building Talents to Communicate in Public | Discussion Group

After doing the wandering activities, tonight the trainees gathered again to learn the next material. We choose to gather outside the room and conduct teaching and learning activities in this place. The trainees sit in a circular position and meet one another. This is a very good position to apply the method of discussion in learning.

We use a mat as a cushion. Luckily we got the right place because it is supported by lighting by lights from the road mounted on a pole. A gentle breeze made it very cool tonight.

I was assigned to fill in being a speaker at this meeting. This time, I chose to use the discussion method. With this method, I hope that the situation for tonight's learning will be more enjoyable. We need to make them learn in relax, and maybe occasionally get them to smile.

As a teacher I have to understand the conditions they are facing while attending training. After wandering, of course they will feel tired. Thus, we must make them relax and enjoy their days with a happy atmosphere.

At this meeting we hope they can become an personal more active and communicative. I will interact with them and make them dare to talk and share stories with all of us. The development of communication skills in public spaces is our main focal point in this learning. Therefore, we are slowly trying to make them become more communicative persons.

Discussion activities like this are one of the most important activities to be applied to scout training. By discussing, we hope to solve problems that cannot be decided unilaterally. In addition, by discussing we will share knowledge to solve problems that arise in scouting education.

In my opinion, the discussion is a part of learning where people exchange ideas to discuss a particular problem that is applied in a manner that is in accordance with the educational values of scouting. The discussion must be applied in an orderly way so that we can find the truth values that apply in real life to humans.

The learning system in scouting education is applied in accordance with current developmenthat does not reduce basic values and norms. The learning system can also be applied with a variety of creative and educational methods. Like the method of discussion that we do this. Maybe for some people this method is not very liked, because indirectly this method makes them to speak out their opinions in public. Nevertheless we must understand that this method has a very good impact on the trainees.

In this discussion we do not apply special rules such as panel discussion forums. We only hope that the trainees can become more confident individuals to convey their ideas and opinions to the public. We have indirectly taught them to be more communicative and have a critical mindset with the things that happen around their environment.

We need to realize that not many people dare to speak in public. Therefore, learning with this discussion method will teach them about how to express opinions to others. At this stage, of course we will teaching them to arrange sentences that can provide information to others. They will learn about ways to convince others of the opinions they convey with the support of real data or stories.

In addition, the discussion will also teach us to respect each other's differences of opinion. At the end of the meeting we give a conclusion about what we have talked about. Each trainee expressed their opinions in turn. We have talked a lot of things outdoors in cool air conditions. Jokes and laughter make the atmosphere of this discussion more intimate and full of warmth.
