SuperFruits of the World - Berries - Part #3

In this weeks segment of Superfruits i am going to bring to you assorted Berries which i think are the most exotic superfruits of the world and i think a lot of people would agree with this and why must we eat our portions of superfruits everyday you may say well because we all know that most fruits are packed with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals, and other nutrients that can help you live longer, look better, and even prevent disease.

Let's start of with the Blueberries that everyone is very familiar with they grow on a perennial flowering plant with blue or purple colored berries. Blueberries are known to be the King of Antioxidant Fruits they help in maintaining healthy bones, reduce blood pressure , manage diabetes and more.

As with the Blueberries the Red Currant Berries are also naturally high in antioxidant they are closely related to gooseberries and both are members of the ribes family and also both grow on a woody shrub plant.

What is a berry well normally they are small, pulpy, and often edible fruit. Typically, berries can be juicy, rounded, brightly colored, sweet, sour or tart, and do not have a stone or pit but can contain many tiny , tiny little seeds which are edible.

As with Red Currant or Black Currant Berries they are exceptionally a rich source of vitamin C , containing three times more than oranges can you believe that from such a little fruit just a amazing super fruit.

The Blackberry fruit which is my favorite grows on a prickly fruit bearing bush of the genus Rubus of the rose family. They are packed with vitamin C and K.

The Blackberry are high in manganese , boost brain health , helps support oral health and help prevent and control gum disease and cavities , what a juicy amazing little super fruit this Blackberry is.

I love berries. I'm allergic to strawberries, but the rest are fair game! And, I actually prefer currants as a substitute for raisins my recipes.

Well, y'know… Berries are super easy to grow. Once you get them started, they'll take over your patch. Plant yourself some blackberries. We had a patch started behind our house in Florida when I was a kid. Man, that patch grew down a three block stretch behind the neighborhood!

These are amazing photos Angelo, although, I don't recognise some of those berries. The first photo looks like cherry and the second is something I never seen before and the red is not currant. Those must be some tropical fruits that grow in Thailand. Maybe you have to ask the locals, lol.

The same here in Spain... if one would think, Spain is the biggest producer of veggies and fruits that supplies most of Europe, In their own land , the avocados are so expensive even if it came form here.... or the mangoes, etc. The berries are the same because all are grown in tents in Almeria about 200 kms from my place. The problem is the middlemen are getting all of these from the poor farmers at a cheap price per kilo...I know it, I used to have an avocado farm here with 300 trees... the prices are so cheap per kilo , then when the middlemen handle them it will cost 1 Euro per piece... a kilo would be around 1 Euro from the farmers and the kilo has around 6 pcs.

I understand exactly where your coming from my dad had farms and like you say it's always the middleman that takes advantage of the situation...lol..never fair 😡

Indeed and also you can´t trust any of those agents that pick the fruits and delivers them to the cooperative without you on their side. We´ve been cheated before and the last avocado harvest had 3 tons and because we didn´t accompany the agent, the cooperative ysaid almost 1/3 of the harvest had been either small or damaged... The amount cheated from us is around 2K Euros... From that time on, we never trusted anyone anymore and we sold the farm.... that was it! The one who bought our property from Wales did not maintain the farm, all 300 trees dried and died off and the farm looked so ugly...

That is so terrible it happens to many farmers around the world it is so unthoughtful of them , they only think of there own pockets. Well i hope you are into better things now.

Well, you have got to know I love it 100% ... Of course, mine is not a contest, but, boy howdy!! Those first pictures, especially numbers one and three, with three being my favorite of the blue berry. I am not sure it is a blueberry, because it looks different from what I am accustomed to, but, it just maybe a different kind.

The raspberries and the blackberries are so luscious and delectably yummy looking. I know you love your fruit and I love your pictures! I am so happy that you participate in #MarketFriday and #Fruitsandveggiesmonday and always appreciate the time and effort in your posts. They are always superb and well thought out.

So thank you!

#MarketFriday loves you!

Yes! I am okay with that. I know all of them here, but, some over there are exotic even to the locals. I figure if they don't know them, well, then I can't know what all of them are.

Yummy is good enough for me. :)
