You and your interaction

avatar

Good morning y'all! I hope you're well, no matter where you are...Although no one is probably reading this due to all the Black-blah blah sales happening...

Well, Saturday has arrived and it dawned grey, cool and raining here in my little corner of the world. I don't mind that of course, any day I wake up is a good one.

I've had a pretty good week although was back in hospital again, the second time in three weeks. It was only a day surgery and nothing too serious, however it's been a little painful since. I had an operation in May and have had to go back for some fine-tuning. No, not a face lift although my mug could certainly use one. A smashed crab and me have much in common. 😑

My week was good, and the weekend is ahead of me now. We have nothing planned. Faith is working today and I'm sitting here wondering what to do whilst café-breakfasting. I'm catching up with a bro later, brother-from-another-mother, and that's about it. I'll take a walk around the lake shortly though, listen to some tunes.

As a guy who doesn't really like people that much I find it difficult to interact for the sake of it. Don't get me wrong, I like and value people but only a select few rather than in general. I suppose getting screwed over does that to a person. My wife and I are very selective these days.

This also means that I don't always have someone to call on when I'm meandering along through my day. Most of my mates are in the military, are cops or first responders of some sort and so are often working or sleeping, or deployed...Makes for a lot of me time, especially when my wife is working. Still, I don't mind as it allows me to think.

Sometimes I wish some of you guys lived closer because I see a lot of value in you. Really, I do. Of course, you may be assholes in real life, just like I could be, however for the ones I refer to I get the impression you're not. No, not going to list you - You know who you are. I just think it would be cool to sit around and talk some shit, have some laughs and get a little more human socially, something this platform doesn't really permit. Also, some things shouldn't be said on the blockchain and in person I could speak my mind with a degree of impunity. 😏

I've engaged a reasonable amount here and really enjoy it. Last night I read a post I wrote yesterday to my wife which I rarely do. The one about my bike accident and almost losing my coconuts. I read some of the comments too. She cracked up about the post as it was a story she'd not heard previously but commented that she could see how it was the replies and comment-banter that really excited me. She's right. She also said it would be interesting to see or hear what steem-people really thought of me. I'm not sure about that part - You may think I'm an idiot. Your prerogative though I guess. (I suppose I can be too.)

Anyway, I'm off for a walk right now. Yep, it's still sort of raining on and off, but I don't melt in water so it's all good. Life isn't always sunny days and bright skies.

Have a great weekend y'all, and don't forget to interact with me if you feel inclined - I really enjoy it and answer everyone.

Hope you have a good walk at the lake, and if I was able I would like to catch up even for a short time when you come to Launceston. Unfortunately at this stage I am booked out😒.

That's ok, I'll be fairly busy with my bro and all anyway. I think we're coming back in April for a holiday, Faith and I, so will see huh?

The blah sales deter me not! ;O)

It is the comments that ultimately make a post I feel. A bit of back and forth is always entertaining

Apart from the I see your post type of comment

Yeah, sometimes the replies actually get me grinning which is good. That's why I reckon a room full of us would be a crack up!

A smashed crab. I'm trying to visualize that. The facial hair is the legs sticking out only on two sides, blowing in the wind like crab legs skittering across the sand...teeny weeny little eyes sticking up awkwardly above a long, flat nose...no, I don't think that's you :)

Do you classify people as to what animal they look like? I do. And if so, have you discovered that their personalities match it? For instance, I have met quite a few people in my time with long noses that end rather abruptly and a certain formation to the mouth so that they distinctly look like rats. And, often they ended up being characters of rat-like morality. I've met a human chipmunk before. She wasn't too bad, a bit too materialisic for me - she was always wanting more for her winter stash. Bird humans are creatures of intrigue. A weasel though; ick.

I find that I do crave humans, and I do create a fair number of vague relationships in person, but never feel satisfied. It is the introvert nature I suppose. We are just a bunch of metaphorical crabs that prefer our shells; whether our faces are crab-like is still an open debate ;)

I think it's quite common for rat-featured-people to also have rat-like tendencies, morality and eating habits...The way they gnaw on stuff with them little teeth...

I've met a few pelican people whose mouths can hold more than their belican (belly can...get it?)...Also a few hippopotamus people who matched their looks and personality well. Animal-people are everywhere though, and whilst I can't confirm their nature, demeanour or character matches it they certainly look like animals.

I don't shun humans really, I guess I just don't need to have very many in my life and the ones I do need to earn that right. I love people watching though - Could spend all day doing that. Oh the sights one sees.

So yeah, maybe smashed-crab is not a plausible description of my mug...Quite possibly robbers dog is more apt? Although I do have hermit-crab tendencies.

Thanks for commenting, as always. Good to hear from you. Was going to email you this morning but didn't want to bother you.

I don't know what a robber's dog is, but it sounds very Australian and very angry. Speaking of hermit crabs, I recently found one dead in shell in my vehicle. I felt very bad about that. Apparently the kids accidentally took it home as one of their shell finds, and it got lost in the trunk, and...the poor dear.

Oh, don't ever worry with bothering me. I thought about messaging you the other night when I was stuck awake for several hours because my daughter was sick. I decided that my ramblings at that time might not be the best :) I don't have a lot of time to put thought to text in the full long-winded extent I prefer to be, but I do take time to read when something comes up. I will get back to you soon, when I have the proper time to respond. Now that my once a week steem post is written, I can check that off the to-do list. Oh look - its 2AM. I should probably check sleeping off the list now...

I don't know what a robber's dog is, but it sounds very Australian and very angry.

Comes from the saying, "head like a robber's dog" as in ugly. I think it's a British/Aussie term.

Anyway, you better go to sleep...Way past bedtime! 😴

Maaaate, I want to drive past and get a photo of your lego Landrover next to ours. We will try not to crush it, I promise. I can assure you I am as ace in real life as I am here. That's kinda scary. What if I am not as grouse as I think I am?

My problem socially is that I type better than I speak. I get tongue tied and nervous if I am in certain self conscious moods.

And oh gawd @ginnyannette.. I would hate to know what animal I am. I think I would be wounded if I found out if I was a pig or a slug. Mortally. Have you read 'His Dark Materials'?

Cooee cobber!

My problem socially is that I type better than I speak. I get tongue tied and nervous if I am in certain self conscious moods.

I think we all get a little like this. It's odd...At work I'm able to talk to whoever, about whatever, whenever. I put my suit on and I hide behind it like a suit of armour.

When not at work...I get a bit shy. People who don't know me well, but have met me, have trouble understanding this. But those who know me know I am quite a shy person. Always have been. Once I feel comfortable though, it's all good.

Thanks for commenting and oh, by the way, I bet you're a cool animal like a meerkat or a falcon or something.

I am def an Asshole..... But only to disrespect-fool people who I do not know, You know the ones that are disrespect-fool assholes from the git go.......

The bike post was funny.... Not in HaHa better your balls than mine funny. But like I told @pooky-jax, it just amazes me how similar our lives have been. Worlds apart, but going thru the same silly and some times trying bullshit that life throws at you. It was a very pain-fool post to read..... Been there done that. And ropes were involved. But tied to farm vehicles.

Yep, "Brutha frum anutha." This Asshole has Mad Respect for people like You & Yours.

Haha! I knew there was someone as mad as me out there. Funny how we can have similar scenarios huh? Yep, the old coconuts could have done without the abuse that day, but I wouldn't change it for anything. We were boys being boys...These days...Well, it's different huh?

Hope you're well man. Have a great weekend.

Yeah, would have been a bit creepy if I snapped pics of the girls. Not my style...Would have made for a better post though.

That's pretty much the way of it. I've posted loads of photos of the area over the years. We don't have a boat although I have kayaks so they're a good substitute.

13 June 2017 is when I made my first post on steem.

Almost exactly one year before I started posting. My join up date was February but I was so shy and clueless about what to post about that it took me almost 4 months to make my first post!

4 months! Lol. Youshy? 😳

I get it though, many are the same. I had my intro post pre written so my first post went up within minutes of the acceptance email coming though. 😂

lol..I believe that about you. Very assertive. Me, I'm a total introvert. If I'm in a crowd you would never notice me because I disappear! lol. Painfully shy. That's why I call myself a hermit and Mrs. J calls me that too.

Shoot, out in the country when I was on the farm I would go for weeks without seeing another human except maybe from a distance on a country road but I was perfectly fine with that, never got lonely or anything.

People complicate things don't they? I like some of them though, just in small doses usually. I have my select group and like it that way. It's not a big group.

But social media comes natural to you! I'm sure in real life you could have dozens of close friends.

0

(Edited)

Possibly. I don't trust many people though. It's ok saying a few things on the interwebs...Another to hand them keys to my house. You know?

We have a very small friends group and prefer it that way. I have many acquaintances though. Each get a small amount of me and I reserve the rest. I like people, but am intolerant of much of the behaviour that is considered acceptable these days. I'm an old fashioned guy I guess. I'm sociable in social situations and obviously know how to engage in real life considering my job, but still, am quite introverted generally; Don't need outside stimulus to make me feel happy or engaged. Make sense?

How about you? I don't think you work anymore...How do you handle social situations and interaction?

0

avatar

You sound exactly like me. I don't even have any friends anymore, the few I had were older and died. We came to to country, not to retire but to find other work and I haven't been able to find anything yet...well...I temporarily gave up this last year while working on Steemit. Mrs. J found a good job however but we are still looking around for another business that we can run ourselves like we have the last 25 years.

But thinking about looking for a real job again but the expertise I had in real estate is not available and I found out that no one wants to hire someone at retirement age. Except Walmart. lol..Wally World like sir krazzytrukker says.

I am rarely out in public and have almost no social situations but when I do I am very cordial and friendly and talkative and interested in learning about others.

It's difficult for people like us I think, RE people from the old-school who still have customer service skills and the wish to use them. It's all digital now man and the young sales people are lazy - At least in my office. Don't want to do what's required as it's easier to hide behind their computer. It's dumb.

I would really like to think my skills are valued, but in reality, if I was to be out thee looking for work I think it'd be the same as you.

Have you considered looking for work as a Sean Connery double?

(Same as me with the friends thing man. Same.)

0

lol...laughing at the young workers, it's just astounding. What happened to the drive and ambition to get ahead? This must be universal problem for Western nations. Is Australia considered a Western nation? lol. But you know what I mean.

It's why the Mexicans are so sought after for construction jobs here in Texas, without them building would stop.

I laugh when I go into Walmart and it looks like an old folks home but I think they hire the geezers because they're good and dependable so they come out ahead even if they aren't as capable for some of the physical tasks.

0

As a fellow geezer I agree. The young ones don't know how to give customer service, are often surly, unreliable and want to be the boss on day one...

0
0

avatar

Exactly! They also want all the benefits, big checks, and want to be able to skip work if the feel like it. lol. The geezers show up for work everyday and actually work, usually with a good attitude.

It's kinda disturbing to think about these younguns as being our future leaders.

0

Yep, the future is in their hands. Lu my I'll be gone I think. I don't believe it's an altogether good future. Just my opinion.

Well we know catastrophic events are coming because of prophecies in the Bible and we know they are coming because of the hundreds of prophecies which have already been fulfilled to the letter throughout history. The Bible has a 100 percent accuracy rating so we are watching the signs of the End Times. And of course, it ain't pretty! lol.

However, although we know the major events we don't know when they're happening. Most think in the next 10 or 20 years but it may be in 100 years. There is vigorous debating as to the timeline.

I think that's why prepping is so big here, people believe that the End Times of the Bible are on us. I'm not totally convince but I think we're close. sorry to get probably way off topic, this stuff goes way beyond what our immediate future holds! lol.

0

I think people tend to get complacent, caught up in whatever it is they're doing and forget that things could change very quickly.

0

Yes and our world is so easy now compared to generations past that it's very easy to get that way. I bet 90% of the people here are complacent and have no preparations, even with a strong preppers movement. Same there?

0

avatar

Yep, same here mate. People laugh at people like me...Little do they know that in an emergency it's someone like me who provides first aid, pulls them from the burning vehicle or house, or provides safe shelter when they have none.

Prepping isn't all about spider holes, fields of fire and nuclear bunkers after all.

0
0

avatar

No but those are the most important things. lol...no just kidding. I've never been able to talk anyone into even the basics of prepping but I think everyone should do the basics. People on here keep telling me I'm nuts for not preparing for the end of the world!

Yes I used to watch that show! I haven't seen it advertised so it either got canceled or we don't get it with our current package. The problem with those guys is that if anything really bad does happen, we'll all know where to go for supplies!

Well sir, considering that you are commenting pretty much on a part time basis your numbers are great. Which means if you ever got a chance to do it full time, or would want to, then you'd be up there with the best of them.

Thankfully the numbers are very low these days so you should be able to earn free steem as long as you like for awhile at least. I mean, as long as it is fun and comfortable for you at this pace then it's just free steem.

SBI, since you're so ancient here I figured you'd be familiar with them or even helped to found that group. Everybody likes them because they cost 1 steem apiece and both the giver and the receiver then get a small upvote on their posts which is great for micro accounts like mine but on second thought I should just send you 10 steem instead.

I comment when I can, and try to comment with some validity...I don't mind it, provided I have the time and it's not obstructing anything else I do. I'd heard about SBI, just didn't know anything about it. Thanks though, not necessary of course, but greatly appreciated.
