What is with complete fucking morons thinking other people are idiots?

Okay, first of all, just because someone disagrees with you doesn't mean they're a moron. Maybe they just don't see the same data or viewpoint as you. We are all exposed to different things in life. Perhaps they see it from a different perspective. Perhaps if you engaged them and tried to have an open debate with them, you might see it from their perspective.

Or, more likely, your entire debate capability is to call someone an idiot or a moron, because they have different views than you.

Sometimes I'm tempted to call someone an idiot myself when they spew some talking point or have some viewpoint that directly contradicts what I personally know as true.

But reality isn't black and white. Two people can and do witness the same event and come away with two very different views of what happened, and surprisingly, they can both be right and correct and be 100% truthful as to what they saw.

But what we're talking about isn't the same as witnessing an event or basically anything in real life. Usually when someone calls someone an idiot it's because of their personal or political beliefs. Beliefs, morals, and viewpoints on different issues are not things that are often necessarily created in an instant based on some single thing. If what you believe is more than just repeating some talking point by some politician, you have a number of reasons likely as to why you believe something. Whether or not you can eloquently debate why you believe something is another matter entirely.

Someone's beliefs do not make them an idiot. Thinking they do kind of suggests you have an issue with your own capability to analyze and determine facts.

If you look at water and think it's a duck, you have a fucking problem.

Whether you like it or not, people on both sides of a debate are often somewhat intelligent capable beings. Statistically one side can be more highly educated, but that doesn't mean that just because someone believes in something that they are an idiot. Many of the people on either side will have perfectly valid reasons for their opinions.

It's really easy to fall into just talking about people that call those that they disagree with idiots, because that is a large percentage of the ones that insult people based on intelligent. Hell, it could be almost all of them. There does seem to be this tendency for people that are quite obviously of intellectual inferiority calling another person an idiot. It is quite perplexing.

I'll admit I have a totally unfair advantage when it comes to the situation of someone calling me an idiot. I know that it is absolutely not true. Statistically, there is a very good chance that the other person is...well...lets just say I'm not likely to be the dumbest person in the room. There are many tests of intelligence and types of intelligence, and historically I have done very well on quite a few tests, and have an obsession with learning. There are going to be people that know a lot more on many subjects than me...but that doesn't make me an idiot. I just haven't applied myself appropriately or to the same level on that subject.

It is really fucking hard to not sound like you are saying the chances are likely that you are the intellectually superior one, when that is exactly what it is. Take me to a mensa rally or some shit, and I will probably not be the smartest guy in the room. Take me to a science convention, sure. Take me to a tech convention, maybe. But, statistically, given a random sampling, your chances are not good. So when you call me an idiot, I know it's not fucking true, and more than likely, sorry, I'm smarter than you.

Not trying to brag. Being smart actually sucks in a lot of ways. I'm actually just smart enough that I wish I was either just a little bit smarter, or a hell of a lot dumber, because it sucks. It pretty much ruins dating. I will die alone. Mostly because I'm impossible to live with, but also because it is actually incredibly difficult to live with normies. I will cuss you out for putting the spoon in the wrong place in the drawer. I will bitch because you didn't stack things correctly. I will go utterly insane if you didn't do something the way that I have established that it should be done, unless you show me a better way to do it.

But, when it comes to knowing something, like you're smarter than the average bear, it's just a given.

So when someone calls me an idiot, I have to keep from laughing.

Which language would you like me to school you in? Well...if I had the dedication to actually become totally fluent. I'm like borderline on a few, okay! If I actually take a class in any of them, I'm sure I could go over that line.

I digress.

I know I'm not an idiot, even though, just like everyone, I can make dumb mistakes, and reach false conclusions, and all of that. Being smarter, even way smarter than average or even beyond the normal level, is not anywhere near as much of a super power as some people think it is. Sadly I cannot do multiplication in my head and figure out the exact equation to hit a golf ball to go through a window and impregnate your mom. I'm sure she's doing that all on her own anyway.

But, I can tell very easily, when some idiot calls me one, that he's a bit mistaken.

So I don't always get angry. Sometimes I do, cuz you know, human, sadly. But sometimes I just casually have a conversation with him, using my standard level of vocabulary, which is actually not exactly Elementary. Though even in Elementary I read at college level. And usually he'll call me out on using big words, and I'll laugh a little inside. Maybe I am using bigger words than normal. I don't fucking know. Subconscious and shit. But I know that even normally I'll use a larger vocabulary than most.

Bitch, I teach my spelling dictionary a new word every day!

It's just fucking funny. I don't fucking get it really. Some dumb fucks will just be convinced that you're a fucking idiot, even as they see all the fucking evidence to the contrary. And you just gotta look at them with a squinty eye and wonder what the fuck is wrong with them.

Maybe it's just some random fucking insult. Maybe their dumb ass thinks that they'll make you cry calling you an idiot. But you're not my dad! You're just gonna make me laugh. You don't have the years of frustration and annoyance built up with me that I will react to such a fucking trivial insult.

But I still don't fucking get it.

What is with idiots calling other people morons? Do they just want a friend?
