First, I want to emphasize this positive note from @fitinfun:

So, so happy about the added prizes here. This is a such a great weekly event and I have fun watching it grow. Even when steem is down, freewrite is up!

And now for her nominations:

@fitinfun

I have two this week -both from the "ashtrays all over the house" prompt.

@myjob tells us of her experience smoking and now with her husband's smoking. She then talks of her worries about new regulations that may come for allowable catches and fish sizes in her state. This new requirement would put she and her husband out of business, so I really hope this does not happen.

@wakeupkitty barely touches on ashtrays in her very interesting post about going to the movies. I always love reading her work since you never know what you will get. I am a big fan of Rutger Hauer, so I was interested in her take on his passing and an early film he made. I want to see it now.

@marblely

My favourite this week is by @felixgarciap:

I found this freewrite interesting, the way it was written and I salute the way it ended. I especially liked how the prompt "curse" was used to describe the current state of the character. While there is hope, it is also a realization that this is how society works at the end of the day.

FWH-faves.png

@wakeupkitty

@d00k13 is my first recommendation. He used the prompt manipulation.
I am not a fan of manipulation and am aware we all manipulate to a certain level. We already see this behaviour in 2 year olds, screaming to make mom feel miserable. Is it okay to manipulate people? Is manipulation no longer wrong if it comes to someone's benefit? Read and decide yourself.

My second recommendation is written in German by @sniem5180. The prompt used is aschenbecher überall im haus (ashtrays). This smoker ,with ashtrays nearly everywhere even on the road, gave me a good laugh! The reason given for smoking is while people use deodorant, perfume, etc. A good read that is worth translating/reading and if you do so you will find the place where smoking is not allowed.

@chireerocks

@freewritehouse, Kindly find the below blog post for your reference which is shared by @elizacheng.
Life is very mysterious journey and process and sometimes from nowhere dark phases knock our door and it travel with us and in this phase our confidence level and self belief really get hurt. But we have to remember one aspect in all situations and that is Faith should be with us in any situation because it always born that light in any darkness.

Keep up team and have a wonderful journey ahead. Stay blessed.

@kaerpediem

I like how @ireenchew carved out her “manipulation” prompt. Her description of the objects leading up to the mystery had me racing to the end for the big reveal. Her words twisted and turned, teasing the mind to picture, hooking me in, wanting more. It’s your turn to read her story, but be forewarned, you may be left hanging around, wanting more 😉

FWH-faves.png

@whatisnew

You all know how I like to read a freewrite that makes me laugh and @wonderwop's freewrite/we-write made me do exactly that. A family was roasting marshmallows at a campsite as they waited for the stars to appear in the sky when they heard something moving in the forest. I sure wasn't expecting the visitors the family had and the funny ending. Check it out for a fun read.

I saw this post by @myjob on her day fishing. The prompt was "open a lot of doors", so I new I would be interested. I wish I could fish everyday, even if it's just for work. She came home after a day of fishing and found a turtle in her driveway, I love turtles. She asked her hubby if he felt like 🐢 for dinner, you'll have the read her #freewrite to find his response! 😁

Curie!

Who earned a curie this week?
@owasco
with a haiku and comments on the death of her husband, much sooner than the usual until death us do part.

The post is riveting and moving. So are the comments. Too many of us have lost a loved one too early.

The feedback! Have I mentioned how much it matters to us -- not just as writers?

@fionasfavourites

My heart aches for you. Sending you strength.

@owasco

thank you! but today my heart aches for all those who have commented! Sitting here with tears streaming down my cheeks for THEM. Steem strength coming through.

FWH-faves.png

@carolkean

@wandrnrose7
reminded me that I'm horrified at how MANY women I've known in this situation--empaths, always, thoughtful and concerned about how others feel. (Most of us here at Freewritehouse are empaths--isn't that a requirement of an author?) The manipulator cares about nobody else's feelings. Thank God @wandrnrose7 finally managed to walk away, though it "took 18 separations, one assault charge and five protection orders"--my heart breaks for all the women and children suffering needlessly due to some messed up guy's ego. (And for men in the same plight; we just don't hear much about the flip side of this unhealthy dynamic.)

FWH-faves.png

@redheadpei
has been a favorite of mine forever, over at @kona's #dailypetphotography. This week, her poem about a knock on the door included more than one of the daily prompts, and the theme connected with the manipulation stories that surfaced from several writers responding to that prompt. This one ends on a very satisfying note:

FWH-faves.png

@girlbeforemirror
This post is past payout, but I'm horrified that I missed it and am back-pedaling now to make amends and make sure everyone here knows this writer. Anything by @girlbeforemirror is worthy of your time and attention. Her artwork with a ballpoint pen, and her post celebrating the Biro brothers who invented and market it, deserves a much wider audience. But first, a more recent post:

One of many things that really leaped out at me:

It has been 3 years this month that I have maintained this steemit account. I have had times of greater involvement, met many great people. Thank you to those who have enriched my life.

Every comment has been so important to me.

I live a life of relative isolation.... Steemit has helped lessen the nothingness and hold the figurative paralysis at bay...

The greatest assistance and compassion has come from lay people and "virtual" strangers, come friends.

Ok. Seriously?

Three-year-old Steemit posts called up again by Carol?

Yes!

Seriously. This one has no expiration date on relevance or merit. @girlbeforemirror wonders what if if this Jewish man had not fled Nazi occupied Hungary during WWII.

But read more than the excerpt. Trust me. The entire, original post is hyperlinked below for your convenience.

... I always draw with a Bic ballpoint pen. I have never stopped to think about its origins before.
Frustrated with blotting ink, Biro endeavoured to create a more usable implement. With help from his brother, Gyorgy, he created the humble ballpoint we use today.

Before I leave off, let me point out that @girlbeforemirror is not alone in her medical maladies. Far from it. So many (too many!) of us writers seem to be afflicted with migraines, autoimmune disorders, and assorted health issues that could be debilitating but mind over matter keeps us moving.

And writing.

Will you write a recommendation next week? It is not that hard or do you not read other freewrites?

A new vision/face in the recommendation club would be great. Happy Sunday 💕

We all are part of the freewritehouse team so are you. I do the same as you. I join the freewrites.

As a free writer you can recommend freewrites and make a chance to earn with it too.

I hope you give it a try.

By recommend you mean recommending one steemain who wrote a freewrite right? If yes then I've done that as you can see in this post. Kindly find the screenshot for your reference.

It's so great to see how this part of @freewritehouse is growing. All the feedback DOES mean so much to me too.

I agree with you and feedback is important to all writers. It is hard to visit all posts, still feel miserable bout that (and try not to hate my connection since it's still better as nothing). 💕

@wakeupkitty, You go above and beyond the call of duty, visiting as many new freewriters each week as you can! And with an internet connection as slow as mine! You can feel miserable about your internet, but not at what you "fail to do" because of it. You rock. :)

Thanks for your sweet words 😘.
I know you are right but still I wish I could visit more in way less time and find time for mee to write too. (And sleep myself slim) 😁💕

Ohhh, we all wish that, I think. Anyone who doesn't struggle to lose weight can just not weigh in on this one. 😁 My time today got sucked down a Black Hole...

Thank you @wonderwop! But I didn't get a curie for it I'm afraid. I did get what I believe is referred to as a whale slap though. And a whole lot of readers, the best!
Great selection of faves this week.
Well done all!

Oops!! It seems I remember having noticed it was not a curie, then toggling back and forth from one post to another, which takes minutes, literally minutes, with our last-century internet service, and forgetting what I was about to do while waiting for the response to a click. Visited our daughter in the city over the weekend and checke din on Iowa Cold Cases and couldn't believe how much faster her city internet service is... {{sobbing with envy}}... on the bright side, you got a WHALE slap, omg! That's big, too!!!! Congratulations for the recognition, whoever was recognizing you!

I can only read text, see no links except for one but I guess that is thanks to my slow connection and they are there somewhere.

We had a nice list again, great prices, perhaps some other free writers are willing to write a recommendation too? @myjob have read this? You read and comment, perhaps you can join make one next week?

Happy weekend to all 💕

If we keep having the same few freewriters every week making the nominations, I may suggest we abandon the Weekly Favorites post. Apparently some other approach would be more popular or get more writers to be readers as well?

I believe people think we are the freewritehouse-team selecting some freewrites.

We should make clear this is not the case and everyone can recommend a freewrite.

How about recommending one and ask that author to recommend an other freewrite, etc?
Perhaps by answering 3 or 4 questions about that freewrite and give your own opinion?

💕

It sounds good, but I'm afraid people will run away if asked to do anything.
For sure, everyone needs to be reminded that ANYONE can nominate, and more people should be nominating, so it isn't always the same small crew of readers and fans. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for all your nominations! You have been one of the most proflic!

Might be they run but than we should considerate if we want to nominate freewrites of people who are not willing to invest a bit or like to earn or...

Let's see of others will come up with some ideas.
