Touch-ups (freewrite)

Omg, we have guests coming over, better start that non-essential project we’ve been procrastinating for months, NOW!
Having people come over for the weekend is very motivating to get some little touch up and repair projects started and also finished quickly. No leaving things halfway and having the same paint brushes stew in a bucket of water for weeks on end. We getting this shit done right now!
How about the bag of bottles waiting at the porch to be taken to the recycling, done! Giving the fridge a clean, better get that sorted before filling back up with good food and drinks.
Our guests don’t care what colour the garage door is and whether our porch and deck in the garden are in need of fresh oil, I do it for me but it’s like having a reminder to do those things when friends or family come over.
I used to live in filth and rarely cleaned much, and then had a panic attack if someone was coming because I had months of grime to get rid of before I could let anyone in. The more I liked the apartment I lived in and the life I had, the better I got at keeping my home clean and sorted.
Now that I’m an owner of a nice big house, I am cleaner than ever before. I no longer have to panic and be embarrased for the state of my house because it’s always relativile clean. I am by no means a clean freak and there are plenty of spaces here that are ”cold” rooms, like the attic and parts of the bacement, but the main living quarters are, well, livable. Same could have not been said about some of my studio apartments back in the day.
I think your home is quite the reflection of the state of your mind. When I was not in a good place in my life I could not keep my home nice and clean either and that only causes more distress, but now that I’m in a fairly stable and happy point in my life, I am able and want to keep my home beautiful and clean. I’m no longer hiding trash, dirty plates and unwashed clothes under my bed, but instead I’m always on top of all the basic cleaning tasks.
Since we have only owned the house less than a year, there is a long way to go before all our things have proper storage solutions and old bad worn out kitchen and bathroom have been completely renovated, so parts of the house are not as well kept as I would like to, but I think that’s a given.
I never ever want to let trash, dirt, laundry and dishes pile up because it’s a slippery slope and my life is so much better, happier and calmer when it’s clean and pretty around me. Please and thank you.
PS. I resently treated myself to a Dyson cordless vacuum and it is 100% worth the money. It has already made my life so much easier and better. I don’t have to have a hissy fit every time I vacuum and now I actually vacuum something almost every day and it doesn’t even feel unplesant. Invest in the things that truly makes your life better!!
Them wireless vacuum cleaners are 1000000% worth the money!
It’s actually kinda fun, but don’t tell that to my man when I nag about walking inside with shoes on 😝
