Apple and Carrot Jujubes

I like to experiment with foods that are interesting to me which I know that my children will love to have and also healthy. Today, I tried out a new recipe I caught on @lizelle' post which is Apple and Carrot jujubes. I followed the recipe as it was described on her post.

This sweet candy preparation and cooking takes time but it worth the trouble. I do refuse my children to have sweet because they are made of sugar and I personally don't like sweets. So I have been looking for alternatives to replace sweets and this is the right solution for me.

The jujubes were made from fruits which is the best and only some xylitol was added to it which is a natural sugar. Apples, carrots, oranges, lemons were the fruit used and then xylitol.

All the fruits that were mentioned above were grated and poured into a pot to be cooked over medium heat. The fruits must be well cooked to a mushy texture before adding the xylitol. After adding the natural sweetener, you will need to keep cooking it at the same temperature while stirring at intervals until it all becomes sticky together, I mean really sticky.

I mentioned really sticky because I had to return the cooked candy back into the pot for more stickiness before removing it again. Then I decided to put the candy into the fridge to cool it down faster, this was not added in the original recipe but it did work.

This candy was so sweet that I added little xylitol (instead of more) after cutting the jujubes. It was really sweet but a good one. It's a simple and nutritious recipe but take time and patient.
