Food Sharing #127 - Yayoi Japanese Restaurant @ Market City, Sydney

Hi Everyone,

We rarely go to the city for dinner but due to our busy schedule at work, we decided to not cook dinner and head over to Market City for dinner as there is free parking after 6pm for customers who dine at one of the participating restaurants. We wanted to try a hot pot place but unfortunately, the line was super long so we chose to have dinner at Yayoi as we know they have the usual high standard of Japanese food.

We normally go to the Chatswood branch as it is closer to home so it's our first time so we decided to try it. Let’s have a look at the menu. Once we decided what to eat, we order through the iPad on the wall. We ordered two eel sets and a tamago.

Here comes our food! It looks and presents the same way as the other branches. The eel was nice and thick with a nice layer of sauce on top of rice. The soup is on the side so you have the option to mix it up with the rice. There are also some side dishes which was a nice touch. The tamago came out warm freshly made. The side radish is my favourite so I was looking forward to this dish. The egg was nice and fluffy - you just want more! The whole meal was just delicious.

Although the price is not cheap, you get what you pay for. Eel is not cheap and you get plenty in the pot. Service here is pretty slow compared to the other branch which I think is linked to more seats available at this restaurant meaning more people to feed. You can’t make a booking to be sure to go early if you don’t want to wait in line for too long.
