I’d like to recommend a local buffet lunch in Tokyo. This restaurant is called Taiko Chaya and is local in Nihombashi of Tokyo. I heard that this restaurant is famous amongst Japanese and tourists. You have to stand in line to get tickets, and then wait in line again for the buffet.

The cost is 1,500 JPY per person, which you have to pay beforehand. The staff will take you to your seat, give you a tray, and explain the rules in Japanese or English, and some other languages as well.

Please read the rules carefully before getting your food. This lunch buffet has a 50 minute time limit. And they charge you 500 JPY if you leave anything on your plate!

The main dishes are raw tuna, assorted kinds of fish, scallops, crab, salad, soup, rice, sweets and other items.

How could the tuna be fresh? The staff cuts the tuna right at the counter and serves it fresh!

There are autographs of famous Japanese people on the walls, and this place has been featured on Japanese TV channel. It is a very popular restaurant in Tokyo.
