Roasted Brussels Sprouts

avatar

Oven Roasted Brussels Sprouts is such an easy dish to make and so healthy there's no reason not to try this at home. Sure, not all of us love Brussels Sprouts and some even hate them, however when done properly with the right seasoning they are crispy and delicious. I often steam then flash fry Brussels Sprouts but roasting them in the oven is way more delicious!

Ingredients

  • Brussels Sprouts

  • Olive Oil 1 TBSP/lb (454g)

  • Salt or Soy Sauce (1/2 tsp)

  • Garlic (Optional)

  • You can add pepper, coat them with various sauces and spices, add vinaigrette or something else to make them extra fancy but it's not necessary unless you're trying to score foodie points.

Directions

  1. Wash and halve the Brussels Sprouts while the oven is heating to 400F (205C).
  2. Mix Brussels Sprouts with olive oil, salt/soy sauce and minced garlic.
  3. Bake for ~25 minutes on the upper oven rack. Bake them flat side down or flip them to be so around 10 minutes if you wish for them to be crispier.

Best enjoyed as a side dish but pictured above with a bean salad. Was feeling extra healthy that day likely due to poor choices earlier during the weekend.

LOVE Brussels Sprouts, but only, like as you say, you cook them right. This means do not boil the shit out of them! Yours looks delicious by the way!!

Thank you, could have made them crispier but it's a trade-off between health and crispiness. And yes, most people who don't like them probably ate them boiled.

I still don't trust Brussels Sprouts. But glad to hear you like them.

Try adding some maple syrup while you cook them. Adds a great sweetness to them!

That's a great idea but won't the sugar make a mess of the baking trays?
