10 Years in the Making!

This morning I was able to take a step on the scale and be transported back to around 2008-ish. That was the last time I was under 200 pounds. I’ve been close several times while dieting in those years since but I believe the closest I came was around 205. Yesterday I was 200.6. Today, I’m at 199.4.

I didn’t start out to lose it this time around though. It just started happening when my pup Bindi started taking a turn for the worse a month or so ago. I guess I just stopped eating. I wasn’t even really aware it was happening. I was around 217-ish and then I noticed that my pants were fitting a bit looser. So I popped on the scale and I was surprised to see I was down to around 210...without even trying. I know the ”My dog is dying diet” which consists of not really eating, probably isn’t the safest way to lose weight...but it helped jumpstart something in me.

From that point I just started to make a conscious effort to eat a bit healthier. Less processed shit, starches, fatty foods...but I think the biggest factor was cutting down my soda intake. It’s a tremendous weakness of mine. I drink a ton of Coca-Cola and all that sugar just turns to fat. That is what I believe contributed to me ballooning up to 237 pounds at my heaviest several years back.

So instead of having 3-4 cans/bottles a day on average (I know...I know), I’ve cut it to about 2-3 cans a week...as a treat. Not to say I don’t crave the shit out of it daily. I miss drinking my Coke on the regular more than cutting out any specific types of food. But I’m really learning to enjoy unsweetened iced tea as of late. It’s no Coke...but I feel good chugging it.

The rest comes to counting my points through Weight Watchers...which is something I’ve done in the past. I get 43 a day although I don’t know if that’s going to lower now that I’m below 200. Gotta check into that today. But this has made me start eating more fruits and veggies again which I always enjoyed but opted for the easier packaged snack instead.

One of my guilty pleasures now is a fat free instant vanilla pudding that I chuck fresh berries into. That’s only a couple of points and it’s filling, sweet, and makes me feel as though I’m not a piece of shit housing a huge bowl of ice cream loaded with toppings as I would opt for in the past. See?

I just gotta find one going forward that’s not made with Aspartame as that shit is awful in other ways.

All this along with more walks at night has made for a slight boost in my cracked and fragile self esteem as of late. Well needed and welcomed and is the first step on my path to rebuilding myself and healing. Now to tone up!!!

Congrats! That’s amazing. I have the same goal of 200 or less (something I continue to struggle with). It’s inspiring to see you make it happen.

That’s awesome brother! How far away are you from it and what are you doing to make it happen? I’ve really found that counting weight watchers plus points has helped...along with cutting down on cola.

You should write a weight loss book, but of course it doesn't have to include the "my dog is dying" part. It could have all kinds of things like, I lost my job, my partner has cancer, my wife left me for a woman and of course, look at the price of Steem.

Hope you are well mate.

Lol

The Sad Man’s Diet Plan. Each chapter is just a different miserable pile of shit that life threw at this sad man that ultimately led to his dream bod. It ends with suicide obviously but in the end, the family needed a smaller coffin due to his fabulous commitment to weight loss! Money saved bitches!!!!

Well done. Losing weight is one of the best things you can do for your health. I am lucky that I don't seem to put much on, but I have slimmed a fair bit since I have been running. Stay healthy!

Thank you sir. Now I just gotta get in the walking/running routine like you! I always had a slimmer body shape until around 10 years ago. I found it harder to keep it off and it slowly tacked on.

I don't really diet, but I think the extra activity has help me shed over 20 pounds in the last couple of years. It's about finding the right balance of health and enjoying life. Either way you don't get to live forever, but I hope I have plenty of years yet :) I'm sure the business keeps you busy, but try to find time to walk, cycle, run or swim.

Wow!!! That’s impressive. What did you do? That’s quite a transformation in a short timeframe! My goal currently is 195. Then I’ll look at things and reevaluate.

at first i drastically changed my diet to eliminate nearly all carbohydrates: I basically just found ways to eat only meat or eggs / cheese / whatever but never any bread, rice, potatoes, etc. I did this for 2 months and gradually introduced more and more exercise in my life. The biggest change I made was likely the fact that I switched to drinking a low carb beer almost exclusively because beer is definitely my biggest excess.

The exercise is now just part of my day to day life as I ride a bicycle to almost anything I go to. I own othe vehicles, but they sit unused so much that when i go to start them, it takes a while. I think my motorcycle is out of fuel, I don't know. I haven't even used it in 3 weeks.

Now that I am down to what i weighed in college when i was very active (and consequently developed my penchant for beer) I eat kinda whatever i want but still avoid carbs and especially sugar as much as possible. I have stabilized at 83kg (around 185 pound) with this new "balanced" lifestyle. I would like to lose another 10 pounds, but since I lift weights it is probably impractical for me to try to do that.

Short answer: It's diet, not so much the exercise. I dropped most of the weight when i wasn't exercising at all.

Especially when you're allergic to it. Always gotta love when your body decides to rebel against you and try to annihilate you from the most stupid shit. Anyways, just start butt chugging protein shakes and maybe staple some weights to your nipples and you'll get toned up in no time, baby.

I get a bad headache/nausea/hot flashes and feel pretty damn lightheaded. Maybe intolerance is a better word than allergy for it. But, it sucks some soggy asshole either way so I just avoid it.
