Film Structure Analysis #15 - Toy Story (1995)
Toy Story is no doubt a classic. The simple story of toys discovering their right place in a boy's life and their right place in their own lives.
The core question to launch us into Act 2 is, "Will Woody maintain his spot as Andy's favorite toy?"
Some feel Act 1 ends slightly before where I feel it ends, but that's the fun of analysis, discussion, learning. I suppose ask Pixar for your best shot at a 100%.
One of my favorite aspects of the story is that Woody cannot return home without Buzz because the other toys have come to believe he murdered Buzz, so the thing he most wants to leave behind turns out to be the thing he must save if he wants to save himself.
Regardless, this is a fun one.
