If This Sounds a Little Fishy, It Just Might Be, You Be The Judge: #fff

You may think that this meal had me sweating bullets while hunched over the stove for hours, well it did.
But the real work occurred hours before.

You see we like to eat as much of our own homegrown food as possible, and that includes the fish you will see in this meal.

With the weather in the low teens, our pond was frozen solid. Breaking a hole through the foot of ice that blanketed the pond was not easy, but the sacrifices that one has to make to get off of the grid are well worth it.

With @farm-mom craving swordfish, I would not disappoint. I didn't care how long I had to sit in the cold, with my worm in the water, I would not go home empty-handed.

What do you think I'm stupid, I know that swordfish is a saltwater fish, but I trained the ones I stocked in our pond to be freshwater fish.
After pulling the lunker from the hole I had put in the ice, it was time to get busy.
I marinated the swordfish steaks I had filleted from the 200 pound monster in a combo of garlic, orange marmalade, extra virgin olive oil, and a little soy sauce, for about 2 hours.

Holy toledo was it a battle maneuvering this fish out of the hole in the ice while trying to avoid the wrath of his sword.

With the oven preheated to 400 degrees, it was time to cook the fish.

Farm-mom would be so proud of me. Not only was I doing the cooking, but I had also caught the fish, swordfish that is, straight out of the pond.

IMG_9133.JPG

I had to check the swordfish several times. I've read somewhere that trained freshwater swordfish tend to cook a little quicker than the untrained saltwater version.

Just right, nice and moist on the inside.

Homegrown potatoes smashed version, you know when you leave the skin on. Smashed potatoes pairs very nicely with all freshwater fish.

Oops, I had better let farm-mom know that dinner is ready before those dam mice leave nothing for us humans.

All in all, I was very pleased with the final results and my lovely bride was blown away with the dish I had created just for her.

When I told her about my ice-fishing escapade, right away she started asking questions. I politely reminded her that it was not polite to talk with your mouth full, and I would fill her in on the details after dinner.
My hope was to put her into a food coma, enough with all the inquiries.

Happy fishing everyone. You know what they say,
A bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work,
and if you believe a word in this post,
its been a great day of fishing because you just took the hook, line, and sinker. 😁

It's 1:30 AM and I had better get to bed, I've heard farm-mom wants some freshwater lobster tomorrow and I'll need to do get my worm in the water again bright and early.
This meal was inspired by TRUE LOVE. Talking about love, I love the guys who run #fff @idig, @jlsplatts, and @dandays, even though someone forgot to put my entry from last week into Round 77 - 01.10.20 😁😁😁

No way! Dude that’s my fault—100%! @idig nor @jlsplatts did that, @thebigsweed, a missed contender rests on my shoulders.

I just went back through the articles to come back and here and defend myself like “nah man, you didn’t tag #fff” or whatever the case may be but, upon further investigation, exibit A—here it is right here! Dammit!! Eh, my bad man. I even went back and forth commenting with you on the got dang thing, upvoted it, and still managed to skip it. I’m sorry about that man.

You wanna know the worst part? I sure’fa king don’t but I’ll tell you anyway. A mistake like that proves I’m human which totally goes against the persona I’m trying to portray around here such as I have the thickest skin on the platform and :censored: don’t hurt me!

Please accept the following track as my sincere apologies and know I’ve rarely, not never, but rarely make the same mistake twice.

PS—fresh water swordfish, really?! What’s next, waterless, fragrant free, untraceable weed?

No apology necessary, but accepted. @farm-mom and I were having our coffee buy the fireplace this morning and getting our heads in the right state of mind for the busy day ahead.
Wanting to get in this week's #fff, but being busier than ever trying to get everything in order before our departure on the 23rd, I didn't get to do the freshwater swordfish culinary masterpiece until 1:00 Am.
When robin went to bed she said, I guess you're not doing a post this week, being half asleep I nodded in agreement.
Well, after sleeping in the recliner for several hours I decided to put a blog together, even if it was a little late.
Robin doesn't usually rise before me, but when I finally climbed out of bed at 7, the coffee was ready and I could tell she had been up for a while. The first thing she said to me was, boy that freshwater swordfish was great. Realizing Robin had already read the post, I asked her if she had read the last line where I mentioned someone's oversight. I wanted to get her approval and make sure I wasn't going to wrinkle anyone feathers, or is that ruffle. I didn't want to offend anyone, I can only imagine the time and effort that goes into keeping #fff afloat, that was why there was no reason to bring it up before the round was over.
Almost at the exact time, we both said I wonder who does the entering of the contenders, I hope it's @dandays, then we can bust his b--- a little.
Funny stuff for sure.
I'm thrilled it was you who consciously decided to leave me off of last week's list.
What are you afraid I was going to win my fourth belt.
Yeah, that is just a sample of the s--t that we decided we would through your way.😁😁😁
. It's amazing to me how many times through the day, conversations, ideas, did you read this or did you see that, and the chatter about the fine people we have met her on Steemit are a part of our daily conversation, with you guys occupying the airwaves a good part of the time.

Thanks for the song.

Stay safe my friend, and give our love to your most wonderful bride.

Here I am again—unable to walk away from a conversation.

If you didn’t say anything, you’d be one of those guys who doesn’t say anything which means our friendship would’ve probably never developed to its current state and then I’d be one of those people who never knew I skipped you! Talk about losing a notch. Speaking of notches, how big are your pants anyway that you need so many belts?! We all know who wears them anyway.

How cool is it though, really? Pura and I are just as guilty as you guys as far as talking about our virtual friends in normal conversation and saying things like “don’t forget to vote” or “are you going to post?” “Guilty.”

Now about the fresh water swordfish, what about the untraceable, waterless weed or... did you forget? 👍🏿
