Silverware Six Ways - The Beginning Of Something Huge #fff #56

avatar

I’ve been actively participating in this @foodfightfriday kitchen for a little over a year now. In blockchain time a year is equal to about three and a half days but in time, time, as in actual time, a whole year of doing the same thing is rare—let’s put it in perspective.

Wear the same pair of socks for one year. Wear as in wear, never take them off to sleep, wash, shower yourself, nothing—foot fungusitis amongus! Don’t cut your toenails for a whole year. Don’t pay your phone bill for a year or try staying offline for a whole year. Nose hairs—neglect those for one year. How about drawls? Don’t change your drawls for a whole year, let me know how that works out. I mean don’t turn them around, change them inside out, nothing for one whole year. It’s a long time. Speaking of time.

Each time I start a contender, by the time I get to right around here somewhere, I begin questioning myself because although I have no idea where I’m going with this article, I’m confident it’ll work itself out if I can just somehow tie these ideas together—local street art, food, humor, engagement and pioneer. Reaaddyyyyy-break!

So, what haven’t I covered in my first year in the arena? Promote Pura—check. Travel adventures—check. Been harassed by corrupt law enforcement, watched @puravidaville play second fiddle to a pita who added nutmeg to Pura’s falafel, restaurant reviews, tarantulas and stray dogs—check, check, check, check and check. Time lapse Pura’s recipes—check. Address sugar volume in baby food, petrol additives in cereal and packaged foods, curate the coolest kitchen on the blockchain—check, check and check. Silverware placement— check.

”Check!”

(you should click that check) I don’t think enough of us are taking our silverware placement seriously. Sure, we got our resident home run hitting food photographers like @lizelle, @birdsinparadise and @lenasveganliving but how much of their camera equipment is being devoted to their silverware placement? No check. The trainer and chef extraordinaire @plantstoplanks isn’t checking the silverware placement boxes either. Neither is @jlsplatts, @farm-mom, you either @scorer, I see you, @anggreklestari, @tasteem, nonya!

Ok. I decided to name the cover image you just clicked on Horizontal Spooning. It was either that or “fork yourself with a sideways spoon” although something about “how to mount a fork” doesn’t sound bad either but my mind’s made up—Horizontal Spooning with masala curry on rice, potato wedges and a vegetable salad:

Horizontal Spooning with bunny chow served on white rice with roasted broccoli and tomato slices:

I have a few more designs I’m currently working on, stay tuned, the art of silverware placement is going to catch on and we’ll be the pioneers of it.

Triple Lipper

There’s still some irons I need to get worked out and a few wrinkles in the fire but, considering the old traditional place setting is my only competition, I’m prepared for success.

Or was it irons in the fire and wrinkles worked out? Something like that. However it goes, I still have a few fires in the iron I’m wrinkling out but custom table settings is where it’s at, check out this last one, Sundial, it’s revolutionary. It’s going to change the way people eat.

Nice, I’m glad I can still keep your attention dude, good morning sir. You got any plans this weekend?

Yeah, that Sundial is a game changer for sure. I probably shouldn’t have released the prototype so early. 👍🏿

Thanks for stopping by @weirdheadaches.

“Hello.”

We’ve actually been immobile at our current location. We’re in Hull right now, been here for two weeks and have two to go. This joint is a little different dude, we seem to have gotten ourselves a little busy.

It’s so quiet out there in a kayak.

I didn't hit the silverware drawer yet in my great kitchen purge. 😂 I'll also take an order of the sundial. 👍

Eh, whatever you don’t need in the silverware drawer just throw in the junk drawer, the one that no one ever purges ever. Have a nice weekend Miss Plants.

Deal, deal, and deal! Thanks for always being so supportive. Pura’s got herself back in the classroom so it’s likely she’ll be on here even less than she is now which has been never for a few weeks. Have a good weekend, Birds. God bless you guys.

Thanks for stopping by @birdsinparadise.

Seriously I am dying over here!! “Horizontal Spooning” “How to Mount a Fork” You gotta be Forking Kidding me!! I mean really, why the fork not change up the silverware placement to the Horizontal Spoon or the Sundial?

Another epic contender my friend!! Gave me a good laugh this morning.

Dance of the Dinnerware, that’s brilliant! I need to read this again because I think my favorite DIY’er just made a gif out of my images.

Yup, he sure did. Luckiest, right here. You put some of the funniest stuff together on here so any time I can make you laugh, I must be doing something right. Thanks for always having back around here Splatts.

@dandays, there you go again, silverware of all things!
BUT, and it's a big BUTT, not that kind young man;) silverware is very very important and we neglect it all of the time.
My mother tells the story of when as a young girl, she was working in a factory canteen and someone asked her for a fokken knife! She was quite shocked and ran to her supervisor saying a customer was swearing at her but she did nothing wrong! Of course he was asking for was a fork & knife, never good to say it in that order! Knife and fork sounds much more polite!
I'll have you know I use my cell phone to take food photographs, I don't possess a fancy camera my dear @dandays.
And I must point out that your curry looks really good but you can only call it a Bunny Chow if you place it inside a hollowed out half loaf of bread, AND Bunny Chow is not eaten with any silverware, oh no sirree, you use your hands for that, scooping up the curry with chunks of bread that you break off.
Love your humour @dandays, always gives me a chuckle :):)
I so want to join #fff but I'm usually totally pooped by Fridays with guests departing and weekend guests arriving; can we post our Friday food on a Saturday or any other day for that matter?
Enjoy your weekend!

Pura is often correcting my menu items too. She’s made us the bunny chow before in a bowl of bread, sometimes I guess we don’t plate it right—I should work on renaming them when we don’t. 😉 She actually got that recipe originally from Ed Privat several months ago, another SA resident, delicious dish!

Great story about your mom. “Never good to say it in that order.” <- that’s funny!

I never would’ve guessed your images are shot with a cell phone. I though the three of you, Birds and Lena, each for sure had fancy camera equipment. More power to you, lizelle. 👍🏿

You’ll always have a seat waiting for you at the table. Don’t need to check your coat at the door or anything.

Thanks for stopping by @lizelle. Thank you for the Resteem, too, I’m glad you liked this article. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

An interesting read, and concept for NEW dining etiquette @dandays

I'd bet that Pura had at least a slight hand in creating those masterful sculptures in the photos, beyond the creative food arrangement. (?)

You certainly deserve that @curie vote on this one my friend (should have been larger in my humble opinion)

That curie visit never hurts anyone feelings, thanks for noticing angryman.

I’m glad you liked this one sir, I had a good time putting it together, you’ve been pretty quiet lately, I hope all is well in your corner of the earth.

Thanks for stopping by @angryman.

Yes, @curie does a pretty good job at incentivising content creation here on Steemit, depending upon who and how many active curators participate.

I'm now on their discord, but have not gotten as active as I probably should; perhaps soon? I'm not part of their Trail because I enjoy manually curating, but will likely delegate a small sum to them shortly as a show of support.

you’ve been pretty quiet lately, I hope all is well in your corner of the earth.

All is well enough here, thank you...My activity here runs in cycles I guess, lately I've been posting about every two to three days though. Whether I'm posting or not, I'm usually curating though recently did a disappearing act in order to spend more time out there in the real world. :>)

Ciao, my friend...enjoy your UK journey with the lovely Pura at your side.

Funny, funnier, and funniest that was how this post read. Checked the check and enjoyed checking it out.
Very creative, but I just to have to ask you this one question @dandays, what were you smoking to come up with this winner of an entry. 😜
All the food looks mouth watering delectable, and the street art fits perfectly.
I always enjoy reading other's comments, and noticed that you said Pura is back in the classroom, as a student or working in some capacity.

When we have a crowd for a meal, setting the silverware only takes me a minute. My strategy is to count out enough silverware, which is really not silver at all, put it into a rather heavy short flower vase we have, and everyone grabs which ever utensils they feel are necessary to get the food from the plate to the mouth.
This strategy has got to save me a minute or two, at least.

Stay safe, and say hello to your better half.😁

But really... I’m so glad ya’all liked this one, if you go back and read that rambling of the thumbs again, you’ll see how embarrassed the author would’ve been had he been the only one who thought the rambling was funny.

Have I ever told you what a nervous mess I am when it’s rime to click the post button? Oh dude, it’s almost shameful to admit. Shaky hands, sweaty palms, set the phone down to pace the living room a few times, stuff like that—total mess. Well, when I’m trying to be funny like something like this one, the messiest! I’m glad you liked this one sir, thank you.

Pura is instructing again. Crazy really. We ‘planned,’ which is a funny wOrd, to go to Spain where she was going to teach. Well, the both of us like England so much and want to stay here for at least 6 months, she did some searching around this area. She’s been interviewing and Skyping and stuff like that and then got herself back to teaching English. We’ll be seeing much less of her around here. When she’s got a classroom full of kids, it’s all she thinks about.

And you know what else about that silvercoloredware in the case on the table? You got a gang of happy faces around it. 👍🏿

Thanks for stopping by @thebigsweed, your comments first thing in the mornings are fantastic.

Teaching English to a classroom full of kids, good for her.
As well as you write, pushing the button down shouldn't fill you with anxiety. I totally get the part about whether or not people will find the humor in your work, causing some anxiety. Most times humor can be found in much of what I post, but I'm not sure people see the joke, or they just are not reading the blog, and just skimming and scanning.
Your humor can be witty, clever, smart, cerebral, teasing, hysterical, and always entertaining.
Keep on keeping on @dandays.

I've always found that by using humor in the classroom was a great way to getting and keeping a student's attention.
I had so much fun teaching, and keeping the mood in the room jovial, always worked for me.
Besides teaching, I was also the guy who did detention. I know that detention should have been a time to be a tough guy, but that was just not me. Many of the kids that were given detention just needed a little TLC, and getting a point across does not have to be done by yelling and screaming. Students don't care about how much you know, until they know how much you care.

Students don’t care about how much you know until they know how much you care.

You’ve said that before and it’s just as powerful now. Good morning, Bob! Happy Thursday to the farm.

I’m always, as in, always catching your humor. Ya’all have painted the farm to be such an inviting place. then add the happy face and it’s somewhere I’d probably be better off just bringing a pillow.

And thank you for the vote of confidence, Sir, I’ll take all of that I can get. 👍🏿 Much appreciated.

What a treat to be introduced to your innovative and fun ways to correctly arrange our silverware. I'm very impressed! But also surprised that I had never come across your @foodfightfriday tag @dandys until now.

I see I have been missing out big time and we can thank @thebigweeds latest blog for enlightening me in an equally entertaining way as you have done here.

I will have to go back to the drawing board and learn how to perfect The One-Upper, Together We Stand, Triple Lipper, Traditional and Bored Sundial and of course: Horizontal Spooning. I'll move onto the more advanced techniques after I have mastered these.

Well what a pleasant surprise this is, good morning from UK, happy Monday!

Well the good part is you found it. @thebigsweed has been a stellar pillar in the entertainment room for quite some time, I’m glad he got you all hooked up with the #fff tag, I hope you’ll join us one of these Fridays.

Traditional and bored—yeah, they’re played out. Food fight is a good time, where else is there a space to perfect our silverware placement? 😉

Thanks for stopping by @trudeehunter, it’s a pleasure to be met.
