Number Eight is Number One #fff #55

I got myself in the middle of drawing a mandala right now, I started on it earlier this week. You don’t see too many of them on the blockchain but when they’re on, they grab my attention every time. So, I’m drawing one and recording the process which I’ll then transfer, edit, etc. and post the project on @dtube—it’s gonna be a minute. What’s that got to do with @foodfightfriday? I’ll explain in the next paragraph.

When I was positioning the camera yesterday and getting ready to draw, I adjusted spotify to something around Sam Cooke and Curtis Mayfield. I sat in front of the sketchbook, positioned my pens and, directly across the center island from me, @puravidaville is in the kitchen positioning her cutlery. That’s about the time she said “we’re both creating art right now.” Absolutely. Everything she plates is art and worthy of a picture which brings us to my contender this week—home made cover images.

My last couple of contenders have been restaurant reviews but, truth is, most of our restaurant experiences are a reminder why we enjoy eating in. Pura paints cover images with everything she plates—she can’t help it. But she’s doing it in unfamiliar kitchens. Since January we’ve been changing rooftops in 30-day intervals, each kitchen has its own unique challenges—doesn’t matter. Some have microwaves and paring knives while others have only a hot plate and a meat cleaver—doesn’t matter. Some have potato peelers and strainers, some don’t. Some have blenders, most don’t—doesn’t matter, she plates cover images. Like this mid-day snack—toasted pita bread and hummus, some sliced banana and strawberries, peanuts, raspberries, blueberries, grapes, and an iPhone 8 Plus—happy Friday ya buncha foodies.

“Chucking it down” means it’s pouring rain outside. “Tricks” means ‘what’s up’ and “you alright” is their way of saying “how are you”. Haha.

Hey what’s up dipoabasch?? Nice to see you again man, I’m glad you made it by here. #4—good choice. 👍🏿

Yeah, that’s the most impressive part, all of these plates are being painted in unfamiliar kitchens. She just puts out delicious plates regardless. I’m not kidding either, some of these kitchens are really challenging. The last one didn’t even have a chopping knife. The one we’re in now doesn’t have a microwave which really sucks because it doesn’t have a coffee pot either... tough to keep anything warm. Doesn’t bother Pura though. I’m the luckiest guy I know.

Thanks for stopping by @dipoabasch, I hope you and Just Trying have the best weekend of the year.

First you eat with your eyes and then your mouth, that is so true espically when it comes to kids. Most times they will not try something new just because of the way it looks. These dishes, I am sure everyone would try, even the kids.
Funny little story. When @ryan313 was up recently, I was eating some radishes, which I love. My grandson Owen saw the radishes and said they looked like little Apples, which he loves.
He asked me what they were and I told him they were radishes. When he asked what they tasted like, I told him to try one and he did.
He ate it and then consumed several others, all because too him, they looked good.
@dandays you are the luckiest guy I know, besides myself. 😁
Hope all is going great, and Let @puravidaville know that we also wish her well.

I sure do dig it when you stop by, there an echo in here? Good morning, Bob, happy farming to the whole gang.

Whenever an article I put together strikes one of your “funny story” or “quick story,” I feel like I won something. Like, yes! We’re on the same page still. Always a comfortable place to be.

Thanks for keeping an eye on me sir. You’re my favorite upstate New Yorker on the whole platform.

I’m glad you don’t mind these food articles still. I’ve done a few other ones recently I think you’ll enjoy too. I got myself in the middle of a drawing right now and I’m hoping to get that worked out this weekend. I time lapsed a mandala and now I don’t have enough space in the iPad to convert the video. I gotta try to figure something out and I didn’t take enough progress pictures with the camera so I’m hoping I didn’t waste my time. If I can’t get it onto video I’ll be pretty disappointed. Why am I telling you all this?

I don’t know. 🤔 Probably cuz you’re the coolest Texan reading this right now.

Thanks for stopping by @janton.

This explains it much better than I can. I didn’t know what one was either before this platform. Once you see one you’ll be “ah, I didn’t know that’s what they were called.”

You’re too kind.

I’m really excited to show you, like I said, I ran into a major hiccup but that’s my objective today, to get around this hiccup.

I’m not very hip with techy lingo so I’ll try to explain in my own words. I recorded the entire drawing so now I need to time lapse it and edit it so I can show you guys the entire process I recorded. Well, when I brought the clip into iMovie, i used up all of the iPads memory. Like, ALL of it! Dammit! I tried squashing everything down at once and, after about 5 hours of work, I realized it can’t be done. So, I did a bunch of YouTube searching and decided I need to walk away from it for a week. I’m back on it today. I’m hoping I can squash it down in small sections at a time, that way when I have a piece that’s time lapsed and edited I can delete the original. But I’m playing with Fire though because as I saved the video to the iPad, I deleted the original information from the SD card so now I only have the one file and I can’t make any mistakes.

I taught myself a valuable lesson. If i have a drawing that requires more than 2 SD cards which, this particular drawing required 3 SD cards and 15 minutes into a 4th, I have to do my transfers in sections. I think it’s a good habit to develop transferring each SD card as they fill up.

Anyhow, that’s my agenda for today and I hope it works itself out because I can’t wait to show you. The drawing has been finished now for over a week and I’ve been spoon fed this F’ing stop sign!

Here’s one of the progress shots I can count on one hand that I snapped out of more than 3 SD cards. I really screwed up on that one Janton and I’m really hoping I can fix it. I sure hope I didn’t waste all of that time. Several nights straight just drawing drawing, coloring, colouring with pens and now I’m unable to save them out of iMovie.

Howdy today sir dandays! wow, you must have a great deal of patience or else are just dog gone determined! That type of project is such a hassle! What a learning experience though and it will be much easier next time. "for over a week and I’ve been spoon fed this F’ing stop sign!" lol...I know it's not funny but the way you said it was hilarious! Good luck with it.
