Food Fight Friday: Soto at Community Gathering
get your bowl, pour the soup and enjoy your dinner!

All women in my neighborhood especially RT 3, joining the community gathering once a month. Those who get chosen (usually 4 people) must prepared foods for the event, snacks, drinks, fruits and main course. We enjoyed "tekwan" a special soup from South Sumatra, but this month we got Soto aka yellow chicken soup as the main course.
I used to cook Soto for My FIL at home, because it's his favourite😊. There are many types of yellow chicken soup in our country, but the most common one is the Javanese Soto.
fried chicken, potato fritter, boiled sprouts, boiled egg and boiled soun.
Sometimes people just add the potato chips or rice too. But the most important part of this dish is the soup. How to make the soup? It's not too complicated because the base ingredients always the same. Onion or shallot, garlic, corriander, pepper, candlenuts or coconut milk (usually use on Soto Medan) chicken brooth, kaffir lime leaf, lemongrass and bayleaf.
leeks, chili sauce, lime juice and fried onion are optional, but the soup is a must😀
All attendees love soto, but I don't touch the bowl😁 just snap some pictures because I want to have dinner with my hubby at home.
fruit's bowl always my favourite at the community gathering😂 no watermelon this time, we have mango, dragon fruit and melon..yaayy!
I left the place where the community gathering is held, Saung 03, after several bites of the fruits😊 I have another plan with my hubby. I need to create this post for the #fff by @foodfightfriday too🍎🍓🍒🍉🍐🍈
I found something new today at my neighborhood too😊 but I'll keep it for monday. I have some duty to complete for the @teampossible regarding to splintersland aka steemmonsters end of season. I couldn't write more than this for now😊

That dragon fruit looks so yummy. I only had it once - the white kind, and I loved it.
If I'm lucky, they'll be selling it here again next month. (December is like the only month they sell those exotic fruits over here)
Hahaha... you know what @simplymike ? I couldn't find other name for those gravy and liquid things except soup or brooth... even the stew is calling as soup 😂
Well... We have 3 colours dragonfruits here now, red, white and yellow. I've never try the yellow one though.. it's pricey😊 i wish I can grow my own dragon fruits soon... all i have to do is cut the stem from an empty house somewhere at the neighborhood 😂 and I hope you'll find the exotic fruits soon.

Looks delicious, I love soup.
This is kinda mass favourite's dish in my neighborhood @farm-mom 😂 I always find this soup on every community events here
So nice to have those neighborhood luncheons. When my children were small, my sisters and sister-in-laws would gather once a month at one of our homes, everyone would bring food and all the cousins, and enjoy an afternoon of watching the kids play, while us girls would eat, laugh and gab.
I have 3 sisters and three sister-in-laws, for a total of 18 cousins.
Crazy fun days.😊💕
We have that kinda family gathering too at least once a month, from my mom's side, it becomes axway for close relatives to know each other but the host always provides the food and one thing for sure... they will come home with some food containers everytime my mom is the hostess😂 they love my mom's veggie curry so much and Soto is never a chosen menu for us in Aceh.
But sometimes they held a potluck party too...at the beach, every family brings the food and they shared. What a lovely family party isn't it?
