A lovely morning!

031.jpg

Our first lovely and almost clear morning again with some sunshine.

I will also show the Giant Fruit Bat in this post!

Yeah the past week has seen a severe storm, but the new week is expected to be clear. So now today we saw the last of the big clouds starting to come across. As expected the clouds made an early streamline across the mountain faces to announce their return.
Come and see!

Oh yes, since the start above, the inflow of clouds has increased as they are all on their home to cloud land.
011.jpg

Mr. Cape Robin Chat sat and watched the clouds with me.
036.jpg

The Mousebird wasn't interested in the clouds, he rather opted for a spot in the sun.

And now for a surprise!

This was our mountain at sunset amongst the clouds last night!
636.jpg

Much later it a gave me a chance to try some shots of the Giant Fruit Bats again.
019.jpg

Big mothers those fruit bats that visit our Palm tree to eat the dates and every morning it looks like the apocalypse below the tree, that I have to clean. But until I can get a clear shot of one of these speedsters, I will be happy to keep on sweeping every morning.

And That's All Friends!

Note: All photos are my own and taken with a Canon Powershot SX60HS Bridge camera.

We hope that you have enjoyed the story and the pictures.

Thank you kindly for supporting a post by @papilloncharity.

Those bats are so big and pretty ugly if you ask me. I love the clouds and mountains, beautiful.
Hope you are well @papilloncharity, hoping for a very productive day, looks like we are in for some dry weather for a change, fingers crossed.

Hahaha, I love their little fox like faces my friend. The most skillful palm date pickers that one can get and very fast. I am waiting to get a TT slide on flash that one can use at midnight to get photos like this.

It's always a pleasure to see the sunshine after stormy days. We have a beautiful day too, but I'm at work, as you know.
And a nice day will be even better when you can see such nice birds as you have them around, Zac. I like the Robin - somehow he looks everywhere similar but completely different 🤣

Hope your day has stayed nice and you will have a chance to shoot one of these big bats tonight, my friend 😃

Always sad when you say that you are at work on a nice day my friend.
I can only thank the Lord that I have no boss and can go out any time that I want to.
He has given me freedom many years ago and I really appreciate it.

Yes, I have also seen many other versions of our Robins and amazing how they change in different countries.

I have sent you a photo of a bat in the previous reply my friend 😀

Cheers and thanks.

I wouldn't need to do these shifts, but they bring money and that's important these days ... and it's easy work, but it's hard to look out of the window into the blue cloudless sky 😎

I would love to have the freedom you have, but a save job is also important when you have to care for kids. And in a few years I will be able to go wherever I want whenever I want anyway 😁

Oh yes, you are 100% correct, as any extra money is always a bonus and you just have to keep on doing it. When I look out of the window, the rain made the widow dirty and when I wash the window, the next day the window is dirty again 🤣

Yep, I was exactly the same when the kids were still in the house. Worked my bum off, but thankfully they grew up and my mindset changed.
The care for kids takes up half of our lives and now I am trying to get that half back 🤣

You will also start to get your half back when you retire 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

That's why we don't wash the windows 😂 lol ... I'm only joking, of course, because as soon as she can't see anymore what's going on outside my wife washed the windows ;)

Yep, that's right and my retirement in one day closer already :)))

Ah! A good tip here and will tell Marian that the window washing is her job 🤣
If she argues I will tell her that the Austrian mountain goat said that she must wash the windows 🤣

Yep and tomorrow will also come and go quickly and then your break starts (which will also go quickly).
Before you know it Monday will arrive again soon, so you will have a heap of days off your retirement date 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

Haha, I didn't say that, but I knew that you would read between the lines 🤣

Right, after the long weekend my way to retirement will be a couple of days shorter 😀

Oh? Too late as I told her. She said, "May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits" (An old Lebanese blessing to their enemies)
Now if she was talking about my armpits, or yours I would not know 🤣

Yeah, that's the way I also look at it and the busier that you keep, the quicker the time will go.

Cheers and thanks.

They may come here into the cold north, my friend, I take the fleas - it will take ages for them to get here and then they will freeze, fall down to the ground and run home 🤣

Hahaha, oh yeah I think that I agree with you and that would be safely protected against fleas from a million camels 🤣

She will have to think about another torture for you 🤣 (But I won't tell her) 🤣

Cheers and thanks.

There's no torture that could bother an Austrian mountain goat 🤣

Hahaha, except only one thing my friend.
The most troublesome being in the universe that can cause even a mountain goat to have sleepless nights 🤣

I will leave you to figure this one, but my bet is that you will know it.

Cheers and thanks.

Well, my first thoughts were "you know my wife" and "the government has cancelled all retirement laws" 🤣

Aha you talk of bats and show a crow, you had me there for a moment. Great to see the weather has lifted, blasting wind has driven itself out 2nd round of snow on the Berg.... Plus you captured that gorgeous big bat.

Progress is being made with the bat Stephen, tough doing night photography on small camera, obviously more organized with a light this year 😁

Thankfully only a light wind today downstairs my friend, but high upstairs the thermals are strong and chasing the clouds along at a trot.
They say that we will now have 4 clear days from tomorrow and I can bet that the clouds will return with loads of cold and wet ammunition on board.

I simply have to get that TT flash for the Canon, but they are R2000 plus each, so I have resigned myself to save until Autumn next year and then I will get one.

The problem is that the top of the palm tree is just outside the normal flash reach, so I have to wait for the bats to dive down after landing on the fruit, which makes it very difficult to get them on camera.
They blend in with the dark of the night and I have watch for their small eyes to take a shot.

Such is life!

Hope that you guys will have a good new week.
