Queen of Margalla Hills - Wildlife Birdwatching
The red-billed leiothrix is a member of Leiothrichidae family and is native to the Himalayas. In many countries like China and Japan it is a cagebird and people love to have it as a pet but if you want to see its true colors then you must see this in wild. Every year in winter they came to live in Margalla hills for three to four months. After seeing its beauty people gave it the name of Queen of Margalla.
First time when I saw this bird's photo I was stunned to see the beauty of this colorful bird. I wandered in Margalla Hills to see this bird but could only take some pictures which were not very close.
Margalla Hills usually do not witness snowfall but in 2016 heavy snowfall fall down on Margalla and finally I saw red-billed leiothrix. It was great experience and I also came to know that they live in flocks and also prefer cold places.
My love for this beautiful bird is growing every year. As it is a swift bird and mostly travels through the dense bushes so it is hard to track them. After three years of struggle I traced some spots in Margalla Hills where red-billed leiothrix comes in flocks and bath and drink. So I reached there early morning in camouflage and waited for hours and then was able to see this beauty closely. I loved to spend some time with them at every weekend.
You can find every possible color in leiothrix. I am always ready to go into wild and see this bird. Maybe camera is still not able to capture their beauty but if you see this bird hopping and singing around you that is the true feel. Red-billed leiothrix is a true Queen of Margalla hills.
