A Pitiful Bird

A few days ago, a friend gave my son a bird she bought from the kids who caught it worth P5 ($0.10). I feel pity for the bird. I think it is greatly exhausted and traumatized.

The moment we step out of the car, I looked for a container so I could let it drink. Then we freed it from being tied, and let it flew.

Looking back, I remember how worried my son was, thinking that the bird might be dead from exhaustion and fear. I'm looking forward that he would grew up to love animals, and not do anything that could harm them. And I do hope that humans would be mindful with their actions, giving a thought whether they are already hurting the animal or not. Animals are not toys. They shouldn't be played with for fun!

I look forward for the day when humans and animals can live together in harmony, as prophesied:

"The wolf will reside for a while with the lamb, and with the young goat the leopard will lie down, and the calf and the lion and the fattened animal will all be together; And a little boy will lead them. The cow and the bear will feed together, and their young will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the bull. The nursing child will play over the lair of a cobra, and a weaned child will put his hand over the den of a poisonous snake."
