Mississippi CPS: Different place, same song and dance.

The Director of so-called "child protective" "services" (CPS) in Mississippi is resigning, just a few weeks before several important court dates are coming up regarding a suit by several children who were abused and neglected while in CPS custody. Dodging responsibility...

Why does this sound so familiar?...because it is. CPS in jurisdictions all over the country (and the western "civilized" world) is infamous for doing more harm to innocent children than good. This case, in Mississippi, is just the latest example as to why CPS, GLOBALLY should be abolished and those functions returned to law enforcement, churches, local charities, etc.

Here is an excerpt;

"Mississippi Child Protection Services Commissioner Jess Dickinson said Tuesday that he's submitted a letter of resignation, effective January. Dickinson, 72, said he wants spend more time with family, which includes nine grandchildren and two foster grandchildren...

However, Marcia Robinson Lowry, executive director of A Better Childhood, said Dickinson's tenure as CPS commissioner was bad for Mississippi children. A Better Childhood is the organization suing the state of Mississippi in the Olivia Y. case. As part of Olivia Y., a federal court ordered Mississippi to do a better job protecting children in its custody.

The state has never fully been in compliance with the order, but Lowry said the management team preceding Dickinson had been making process. Under Dickinson, Lowry said things got worse, and the state was falling further out of compliance.

'I don't think he was tried to comply or have his agency comply with the requirements of the federal court order," Lowry said. "... I think the children are worse off for that'."

OK..so we essentially have a "he said, she said" here, but if we look at the woeful history of CPS dishonesty, incompetence, and corruption in Mississippi, I think we have to tip the scale in favor of the "she" here. That is no real indictment of Mr. Dickinson. He may be the most honest hard-working guy on the planet, and the improvements he has cited as occurring during his brief tenure may truly be significant...it's way too early to know for sure...

But the real problem here is not who holds the title of captain on this obviously SINKING SHIP, but the problem is that the "system" was never designed to be "successful" in the ways that the people have been told, or that normal commonsense might dictate. Instead, the entire CPS milieu in America and internationally is really designed to complete the final seizure of POWER from families, and turn it all over to government bureaucrats.

You certainly aren't going to fix THAT major, systemic, and irreparable flaw by changing the chairs on the deck of The Titanic, or by stealing more money from hard-pressed taxpayers.

Thanks. Indeed so.

We still haven't reached critical mass, as far as public recognition of the extent of the problem yet, though.
