Another child that went missing leads to the discovery of 23 abducted kids in Mexico.

Dylan Perez, a 2-year old went missing on 30 June 2020 from a market place in Southern Mexico. Surveillance footage of a nearby shop showed that little Dylan was grabbed by the hand, and led away by a young girl.

While searching for him the police found 23 Abducted children in a house in San Cristóbal de Las Casas, in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas.

There were 3 babies between 3 and 20 months old. The other victims were between 2-15 years old.

Local government released this photo of the children with their faces blurred.

Unfortunately Dylan Perez was not found between this group of children.

“None of the children (rescued) is my son,” Pérez's mother said in an interview with local news reporters outside of the National Palace in Mexico City, where she traveled to petition President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to help find her son.

The police arrested 3 women, Chiapas state prosecutors said that they might face child trafficking and forced labor charges.

These children were physically and psychologically abused. Their living conditions were very bad. It seems that the children slept on a cement floor with sheets of cardboard and blankets their bedding. They also suffered from malnutrition.

“According to the children, many of them were forced to go out on the streets to sell things, and moreover they were forced to return with a certain minimum amount of money for the right to get food and a place to sleep at the house,” said state prosecutor Jorge Llaven.

It seems that the older children had to lure and kidnap younger children. The rescued children have been put in the care of child welfare officials.

What a terrible ordeal this must have been for these children and now they are in the child welfare system. Out of experience and testimonies here on familyprotection we know what can happen to children that end up in the system.

Mexico has one of the worsts track records in returning kidnapped kids.

The Centre for International Family Law Studies in Cardiff, Wales compared seven jurisdictions, including Mexico. The conclusion was that Mexico was by far the worst offender in its failure to return abducted children.

A question that also come to mind is: Is there no laws against child labor? If these children are daily on the streets, selling things, what are the authorities doing?

Texas courts made a landmark decision finding Mexico's legal system ineffective and lacking legal mechanisms for the immediate and effective enforcement of child custody orders and, furthermore stating, Mexico posed a risk to children's physical health and safety due to human rights violations committed against children, including child labor and a lack of child abuse laws.

I feel like crying if I think about these kids that were found and maybe they won't be any better off or maybe worse. What has become of our world that we cannot protect the most vulnerable, our children??
Let's keep these kids in our thoughts and pray that they will have better outcomes.

This is disheartening. Every child ought to be protected by the law and everyone around.
I hope the children get the justice they deserve

Thank you for reading. It's true what you are saying, but unfortunately for lots of children world wide it's the opposite.
