At the Great Grans

One of the things that really sucked about self isolation was not being able to see the grans.

With Hubby being an essential worker and exposed to people all the time we didn't want to put the grans at risk especially since they're both in their 80s ~ Nonno closer to 90.

I didn't have the privilege of knowing my grandparents. Dad's parents died when he was little and my maternal grandparents died when I was young so it's been such a blessing to have taken on Hubby's grandparents as my own all these years.

When they found out we were pregnant I remember how happy they both were. It felt like they were revitalised knowing they had a great grand baby on the way. Especially Nonno who had been trying to prepare and desensitize us for a couple of years.

Seeing them interact and play with Bella.... I have no words.

Grandma calls her "Our Little Princess" and gets treated as such.

Today, in true sicilian baby style, she ate risoni soup. It was the first time Bella actually ate something not fruit and she ate it all. She also ate chicken and potatoes, and two strawberries I was about to put in my mouth.

It was also her first time on grass.

I have seen videos of babies disliking grass and wondered if she would react the same way but she didn't. She actually loved it.

She sat there very happily playing with the grass for ages. I'm pretty sure she was grounding herself.

It was a beautiful winter day full of baby's firsts and treasured moments with the grans.
