Important life decisions have been made | I have embraced the fact that we are not done here yet

Not done here? What am I talking about?

Lol, that can be read in different ways, but trust me when I say that I'm not talking about not being done with life when I say "here". Don't worry, I'm talking about Budapest, or actually Hungary. Everyone knows by now that I've been hoping to move to another country for a while now. At first, we were very certain about the fact that we wanted to go to a certain area in the world, doubts have arrived frequently in the past months. And if these doubts are here, but there's actually no real need to leave this country, why would we even bother at this point?

In Spain, before we moved to Budapest, the income was cut to 50% due to a year in sick-law passing for my back injury, while boyfriend didn't get hired for a job before this actually happened. So we took this opportunity so he could start working in Budapest. It was a no brainer that this was the best (only) option we had. A man's got to do what a man's got to do right?

Boyfriend seems to be working for a good company now

The company has a good vision in general and actually does a lot for the employees. He's good at his work (as usual lol) and we both see the potential for him at this company long term. Where we were a bit frustrated for a while as we felt we wanted to leave Budapest asap, we now feel things can't be rushed and we should allow the universe to take the time it needs to let things unfold in the right way.

What this direction will be, is not even clear at this point, we have too many doubts and our ideas go from Latin America to Australia and let's not forget the rest of the world. Until we figure that out, I've decided to embrace the fact that he has a job and we have a roof over our head, while we focus on the here and now before we focus on moving countries again. That decision has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. Although the plan is still fairly flexible at the end (depending on other circumstances), we now have something to work towards and enjoy life here while we come closer to that goal.

Finances and opportunities

Besides looking for a (part-time) job myself to have a certain amount of money extra every month, I also have to do some research about the best way to start up a business here. The recent tax change seems to be the final reason that this is the right moment to take the step of becoming an entrepreneur again this year. I had aimed at getting this done by the start of the year but I've extended this deadline to make sure I will be well informed and take the step as soon as possible, even if this means that it will take some months. If the information I have read so far is interpreted correctly by me, it's a no brainer to start a business this year. This is the year I want to deliver several projects that have been a work in progress so far.

Another financial reason to stick around for a while longer is that I decided to clear a few debts we have. One is the credit card bill at our bank here and the other is a debt from Holland. Of course, it's perfectly fine to leave if you keep paying according to agreement every month but I don't want that anymore. I want to clear these two before we go as this takes some weight off our shoulders and bring good karma probably haha. I'm not saying that if the perfect opportunity comes along when the debt is almost paid off, we will not go, but you get my point. I just set us some goals to live up to. And I'm also quite convinced that this will motivate me to work a little harder to pay it off quicker than planned.

World Or Reviews

The most important project I'm working on at this moment is World Of Reviews, not because this is the best one, but simply because this one already had a sort of soft launch while I build my portfolio. Although it was fairly quiet during December and even the first weeks of January, I have sent out a handful of collaboration proposals today and now waiting for the go-ahead of the cool businesses I selected for a collaboration. For now, it doesn't bring in money but I gain experience and can make sure that I can think through the business plan in great detail due to the experience I gain now. It's all part of working towards the goal of being independent in the end, therefore it's worth it!

My own blog is under construction

Where I didn't see the advantage of having another place to share my blogs before, I now see the possibilities it can bring. Besides this, I'm a sucker for stats and this way I can also monitor the visitor and stuff like that. I decided on a name for my blog and opened the free Wordpress version of it for now. I will buy a domain as soon as I decided on the layout and what needs to be on the page before I launch it. It will be a place where all my projects come together and where I can show my best writings. I read there's a Steemit plugin for Wordpress, so that will probably be tested soon as well. I'm super excited about the blog/website but I also decided not to launch it before I feel satisfied about the layout and amount of content on it. I will keep you posted when it's launched, of course.

Family

For us, as a family, I also think it's the best decision to stick around for a bit longer than anticipated. Emigrations are exhausting, and even if things are arranged very well, I'm sure that settling down means it will also take some (or a lot of) time to adapt and find a new routine. I honestly would feel bummed to the max if I couldn't be as productive as I am now for a while. It's improving by the day and I notice that I also gain more energy by the day, because at the moment, I get shit done.

With this new year that arrived, I've been much more pro-active than I ever was, and therefore I know that I can achieve so much this year. I would be insane if I would risk this all to be interrupted by an emigration. So besides the financial goals, I owe it to myself as a person to take advantage of the opportunities that come on my path. This year I will be able to wipe out some of my things on the bucket list.

One of the other very important reasons is also our daughter, she has had quite some issues adapting to situations. We are now finally at a place where we understand her better, and where I notice what goes wrong in certain situations. It will be good for her if we stick around for a bit longer as well. I do feel that we should find a better area for her though, and we both agreed that with this decision of sticking around here longer, we will have to start looking for another area to live in. A more healthy environment that is, but again, no rush, we will take our time to explore our options in the next months to decide where that should be.

Lately I've discovered a lot of awesome people live in Budapest

For some reason (ahum, I know the reason these weren't coincidences!) I keep finding cool people in random groups on social media or bump on great articles or websites of like-minded people that are living here in Budapest. I honestly want to onboard each and every one of them on Steemit (working on that as we speak) as I know they are such inspirational people having tons of stories and experiences to share. I feel that it's my duty to convince them to join this awesome platform. It has brought me so many good things, so I'm hoping that I will have a lot of coffee dates in the near future with these people to connect with them. This may not only be good to onboard them on the platform but also I see new opportunities to connect with inspirational people which is good for me personally. A win-win for everyone!

That's all for today!
