Powerup Statistics #20 - August 31th - September 14th

Every two weeks or so I like to compare the current power-up statistics and see how we stand.

Here they are:

31 August 2019

STEEMAmount
STEEMPOWER200,3 million
LIQUID STEEM123,7 million
SBD7,6 million

Virtual Supply ≈ 360,115,520 STEEM

14 September 2019

STEEMAmount
STEEMPOWER201,5 million (+1,2 million)
LIQUID STEEM123,8 million (+0,1 million)
SBD7,6 million (0 million)

Virtual Supply ≈ 361,451,227 STEEM

Fantastic numbers this report!

A very nice increase in Steempower with 1,2 million more SP (staked STEEM) than two weeks ago.

What helps a lot is Steemit Inc. not powering down 1 week out of this 2-week report. Keeping the Steempower numbers higher (they normally power down 326k a week).

They promised not to power down this month so I expect that the numbers for the next report will look even better because of that.

I was hoping that in this report that for the first time in a long time the LIQUID supply of STEEM would have come down.

We just didn't make that. But it's very close. Normally more than a million is added to the LIQUID supply in these reports, this week it's just a 100k.

(I'm writing this report in the early morning. I think if I would have waited for nighttime we might have gotten it. Everytime I refresh total SP seems to go up a little)

I have noticed a lot of smaller accounts powering up. Click here for the last 24 hours That helps a lot for these numbers and is very healthy for a DPOS network. #newsteem seemed to have increased faith in the buyers (mostly Steemians, users of the platform).

There are still some bigger accounts powering down. But eventually, those will run out of STEEM to sell and currently there are already enough buyers to offset most of it.

I love seeing all that STEEM flow in the hands of the many. It makes STEEM way more stable and healthy.

Keep in mind though that Steemit Inc. have said they don't make enough revenue yet to stop programmatic selling. So if market conditions don't change they will start up again.

But all in all, not a bad report! The fundamentals for Steem have been fine for a while and for now the numbers are turning in Steem's favor too.

What will this do for the price? I can't say. It might very well go lower. But like I said yesterday, I know there are buyers now around these levels, so I don't worry too much about it.

My goal is now 300k. Which used to be the impossible territory. But is becoming very real now.

I still dollar average in. Buying still beats earning although with a small increase in price this will flip quickly for my account. (I'm buying around 4k a week)

With good curation, I already can earn around 950-1050SP a week. I did not expect this at all but that's pretty awesome.

It's a near 4x increase in rewards from what it used to get under #oldsteem while curation should have only seen an 80% increase under the newly introduced EIP.

(I think (can't prove it) that the fighting of abuse has a lot to do with that increase because all that STEEM flows back into the pool.)

That's 50k STEEM in rewards a year (18% ROI) for doing actions and supporting people that benefits the platform and helps it grow.

And remember your SP will also allow you to delegate RC's soon separate from voting. Also gives you influences over the witnesses and the SPS, and can be used to combat abuse. There are lots of other perks.

I'm sure this concept will catch on soon enough with more people.

Next report in two weeks!

Seems like a lot of Great News Mark and I like how you said 300K SP use to seem impossible. Not now for you at these Current Levels of STEEM Price.......It Only gets Better Going Forward @exyle

Also, have you seen the Splinterlands market cap? Looking pretty nice.

Really things are getting better and I see many people who left posting on steemit for quite sometime have come back. They are now realizing the power of it and its longevity.

(I think (can't prove it) that the fighting of abuse has a lot to do with that increase because all that STEEM flows back into the pool.)

I think it has more to do with the curve and it's flowing instead to new and small authors to well-known steemians.

Which is not good in my opinion. But I might be wrong, tho.

If I would make this rapport now (I just got home it's 21:12 in the Netherlands) then we would have indeed seen for the first time in years that the amount of liquid STEEM had gone down. Another 100+ k was powered up while I was out. Time will tell wether EIP was a good or bad thing but for now, it's looking good.

Does this virtual supply has any limit or it will keep growing like this

I could be wrong, but I think that some people could be conflating Steemit not powering down this month with Steemit not selling STEEM this month. As far as I know, they’ve made no statement about curtailing sales.

We will not be selling any STEEM this month. We have continued to improve revenue generation through ads while lowering our expenses, but we are still a long ways from covering our operating costs 100%. That being said, we have put ourselves in a position where we can pause programmatic selling, as we are this month. This is a very important benchmark for us because it was not something we were in a position to do just a few months ago.

With good curation, I already can earn around 950-1050SP a week.

What is a good curation for you? Auto voting on 5th minute accounts that often if not always have good post payouts? Investing time into finding good quality content, first reading it and then upvoting? Investing time into finding good quality content from small users that post undervalued good quality content?

Is good curation something that benfits you or something that benefits steem ecosystem?

Can you please clarify what is a good curation for you?

Under linear 7 to 8 out of my 10 votes were pre-allocated. I had 2-3 votes spare.

Under this new system, I have 10 votes spare. That's already a huge improvement.

I currently support 38 authors automatically with different percentage of voting power. (between 15% - 50%). Most of these are for longer-term Steemians that have gone through all the shit and are still here. I can finally give something back to them. The new system has just been released, I think that's fine for now.

Besides that, I have more votes spare, and I upvote post I like.

Sometimes I go to the new page and vote for something I can find there but not that often. I don't enjoy that very much.

For me, It's up to new Steemians to empower themselves. Find support, make themselves known. Show up every day. Some can do it and others can't. I don't know why that is, just that it is like that.

Good curation is a mix. Your statement of 'either for me' or 'the platform' is strange and very opinionated. Like they can't co-exist. Of course, I curate for myself but I also make sure my votes go to users and projects that benefit the platform.

Autovoting is not a good curation. We have different views on that apparently.

But again, I am still a noob here so you might be right - Autovoting 38 people is a good curation.

I wonder how it would be if everyone does that... :)

That is some pretty decent news indeed! In fact, I have been sitting on a little bit of Steem waiting to power it up. Your post gave me the kick in the pants I needed and I just powered up 200 STEEM. Thanks for the great posts!
