Evening run: After dark

I just finished a 6.586km running that lasted about 0hh:37mm:33.0ss !

I have not run much in the dark lately. I did recently do one with a friend who wanted some company. He had a light strapped to his chest and I can see why. Some of the time I could not see where I was treading and our footpaths can be uneven. Happily I did not trip at all.

I was thinking I would run tomorrow as I already ran yesterday, but there just will not be time as I have a couple of things going on after work. We are into the Christmas season and some drinking may be involved.

It was warm enough for a t-shirt tonight and I chose a nice bright one so I could be seen. I did a similar pace to yesterday, but was tiring towards the end. I was reading about a streak which consists of running every day over the Thanksgiving to New Year period. They say you can just do a mile, but that still involves getting changed and probably taking a shower each time and that eats a lot of time. I would struggle to run every day, but maybe I can try shorter periods. I was reading a few articles and one advised that you should dress as if it were about ten degrees warmer. That sounds reasonable to me as I warm up a lot when I run.

I was listening to No Guitar Is Safe featuring an interview with Scott Henderson.

I have been thinking I need to do more distance each week. 25km sounds about right, but that would mean getting out three or four times. It is more like two or three for me. I will see if I can step it up in the new year.

There is something different to it running at night, I prefer early morning and late night with proper clothing/lighting

I do need to be better equipped. I could go out before work if I got up a bit earlier, but doing that on dark winter mornings is hard.

Wow, 25k is crazy. I wish I was at that point. I have basically been doing a mile walk each morning. It is all in front of the TV with aerobics mixed in so I work up a good sweat by the end of it. I am hoping by the end of next week I can be up to two miles. We will see though...

Do what you can mate. There are people who run 100km in a week, but that is likely to wear out your joints. I want to do a marathon some day and that will mean putting in the miles.

For sure, I would just be happy to complete a 5k some day. I have been using Actifit because of the integration with my new fitbit. Those posts I do with my @bozz.sports account though. I think I have a good shot of hitting 10k steps today!
