Market Friday: morning at plant nurseries,
This is my entry for #marketfriday hosted by the kind and compassionate @dswigle. It has been almost a year since I visited plant nurseries in Nongkhai. As the train arrived very early in the morning, I decided to drop by two plant nurseries to check out their plants.
It was so nice and fresh traveling in tuk-tuk early in the morning when the roads were quite empty and the air was light SBD clean. Bangkok has been suffering from thick grey and toxic smog for almost two weeks. So, being in Nongkhai has become very special retreat from bad air pollution. Walking among plants and flowers after the train journey made me realised how easy to find happiness and contentment in simple things in life.
Sun rise in Nongkhai and very quiet road. This was quite a contrast to traffic jam in Bangkok!
These two plant nurseries are on the opposite side of a natural large pond so they have access to free pond water for their plants. The first place has a large collection of fruit trees and some small decorative plants.
The owners were not up yet, so I just walked around the section of plants by the road. The young boy opened the gate as he had to go to school. So, I had the chance to enter the main section to take some photos. The owner just let me walked around by myself. I was quite surprised to see that this family have turned part Aof their garden into a boxing gym! Some people were trying a get fit and strong.
There are many plants which I don’t know their names. But I could identify fruits trees quite easily.
The back of the nursery is where all the fruit trees can be found; various kinds of mango trees and other regular trees are in flowers.
I have most of the commonly known mango trees already. So, I seek out old kinds of mango tress which used to be popular some twenty years ago. But they do not specialised in previously well known trees. My friends’ nursery is only five minutes drive away. I would like to greet her for the New Year.
I was struck by the house opposite the nursery as it looked like a house in the jungle.
I caught my friend watering plants in the garden.
It seemed she had sold all her decorative pot plants to her regular customers. There were very few flowering plants left there. She gave me a red hibiscus plant as a New Year’s present. It seemed her business has become quite prosperous. When I first knew her and her family, they had just started their business so I supported them during the first few years. We have become friends ever since.
Her small baby girl is now in secondary school; her father always brings her to school in the morning on motor bike! Thus family is thinking about buying a house of their own! I was glad they are now financially well off! I ask her to find some ten tree saplings for me; I have a small dream of planting a forest on my land. This will take time so I have to be patient!
Have a nice day!
Cheers.

Thank you! Yes! I am looking for these trees! Ten trees!
Shouldn't take long to have your forest, living in such a warm area everything will grow fast :-)
Well, if there is no drought, these small saplings would survive the hot season! I have lost many plants because of extreme heat and prolonged flood!
Let’s hope this year the dry season doesn’t last long. Several provinces are beginning to see hundreds of trees die standing!
Cheers.
Didn't think of that....
Super!

I am very pleased!
I know, because I have several species of different plants.
In addition, I really like to study and learn about new plants.
That is really a cool refreshing post love all the flowers and plants nice one my friend 😊
Thank you very much! Have a great week!
My pleasure and you have a great week also 👍
Howdy sir kaminchan! What a wonderful business that nursery is, it's good to know that it is a family owned business and that they are prospering! Great photos, well done.
Thank you! I hope their business continues to be successful.
Me too sir kaminchan, I love small businesses. I think you need to buy something every week there! lol.
How wonderful that you got to go to to plant nurseries back-to-back! I am glad to hear that you got out of Bangkok for a little bit as I have heard about the toxic smog for a while. It must be a nice tree to get away from it all strolling through the plants and flowers. It's always the simple things in life. It must feel funny to have the roads so empty after the city. How interesting that they are opposite sides of the road like that but being there sharing the water, it makes a lot of sense.
The first-place really have a large amount of beautiful plants. You got there before the owners were up? Oh that is so funny! It looks like the family was trying to get fit while we were working or perhaps they opened up a Little Gym of Their Own. Everything Is Beautiful In Bloom and I especially loved the Roses. I suppose that because you came by train and you won't be bringing any mango tree back with you.
How sweet of your friend to give you a red hibiscus plant for a New Year gift and how lucky for her to be so prosperous. I hope she finds your 10 saplings and it will be wonderful someday to help the forest besides you. I want to thank you for bringing us with you on your journey and for taking this to the nursery. I wish you a most wonderful day!
#MarketFriday loves you!

Thank you very much for your tip and very nice comment!
I already have several mango trees but i might get another one next week as I still don’t have this new kind of mango.
I do hope my friend would be able to find those ten saplings for me! Those would be an investment for me in the long run! I could eat their flowers and sell the big trees later or build a house with these logs! Very long term plan! Haha!
Cheers.
