Keeping an Open Mind

Greetings Steemians,

Recently I published a post about consistency.

In terms of consistency with Steem, it is important to maintain consistency. Really it doesn't matter how good your content is if you don't put some consistent work into this place.

Source

Yesterday I took a day off and reflected on some things. A little introspection I guess.

I've been here for 2 years, and I am not going anywhere, but there are some things I have noticed about my relationship with Steem.

For me personally, it requires copious amounts of time to interact and read posts. Even with above average typing speed, I can't speed up my thinking process, and sometimes a single comment can take me hours to compose..

I really feel like what I have accomplished in two years here is pretty great, and I am proud of myself. At the end of the day that is all that really matters right?

With the economy in my region, what I have earned in two years is not even one weeks pay in many jobs, and this has been two years of work. It is safe to say I have adopted a long term mindset, as well as viewing this as a hobby and expressive outlet of sorts.

That being said, and bearing in mind this idea of consistency, I have to wonder if I might be better off if I spend less time on Steem, and explore different things.

Taking a day off, I feel like my stress levels were so much lower.. and I love Steem and don't know why I feel less stress when spending less time here. It's really a strange phenomenon.

I think I am going to diversify a little and try some new things.

Like I said, I'm not quitting Steem, and I am not giving up on the future of Steem a single bit, but I do think I am going to power down a little and move at least some of my funds out to try different ideas for earning crypto.

I'm sure hearing this will really piss off some die hard Steemians, but this is a matter of perspective.. I myself am a die hard Steemian, but I also think it's not wise to keep all of the eggs in one basket.

I have some ideas currently, and different projects I have my eye on. I see some opportunities out there, and so I am going to start trying some different things.

With Steem, if it was "all about the money" I definitely wouldn't have stayed here for two years, because like I said, this is like 1 week pay here, for two years of work.. (and I've invested in different areas as well, so much of this isn't "earned")

In terms of consistency, I might shift my consistency a little bit "elsewhere" and just start exploring new things.

I'll still be curating and posting, but I think it's going to be a little bit less. I just need to look out for my mental health and really want to explore some different things.

I still believe in Steem, and my futuremind says great things are ahead.

None of this is financial advice or anything like that, far from it. Just discussing my thoughts and opinions. I really feel there are some amazing projects in the works, and Steem is not going to be the only big hitter in the future.

Thank you all for stopping by and reading. I hope you're having a great day!

I understand. Sometimes we just get caught up and need to move priorities around. Congratulations on 2 years.

Why not send your liquid STEEM out which you get from author rewards. That way you continue to grow the account and have some flexibility?

That is a great point @slobberchops, and may very well be the route I go.

I am not fully decided yet. I do have some concerns developing about ongoing abuses on the chain. As much as I am against KYC, we have to be realistic about what not having something like that creates.. If someone is caught abusing, it is so easy for them to create a new account and continue abusing.

I guess in some respects I am a little worried, but I am not giving up hope.

I saw one of your recent comments where you stated something along the lines of "everyone being down" right now.. Maybe it's rubbing off a little on me lol.

I get down too! I know you may think I get a decent slap of STEEM but I have invested a ton of time and money into it all.

I'm currently trying to prise people off Facebook to cross-post here.

Don't give up on it, I know your a little prone to this. It will get better, though it doesn't seem that way right now.

Thank you for the uplifting words my friend.

You're definitely one of the pioneers here in my book, and I'm well aware of your dedication and efforts.

I won't give up, and I hope this post didn't sound like I am.. I just need to prioritize and maybe spend a little less time on Steem (for now). I'll definitely still be posting/curating/interacting, but just a little less for now while I get some things in order.

I will reconsider powering down any funds. I'm just really starting to get worried about the value going lower.

I think a migration push from mainstream is the right idea. Burger King is starting to accept crypto in Venezuela, and if that isn't a sign that mainstream adoption is coming, then idk what is. After all, we're talking one of the biggest franchises in the world, which means some of the most powerful people in the world, accepting crypto... That is something big in my book.
