Last week I received two more postcards from my social experiment. Now I have 7 postcards from 4 different countries. I'm expecting my collection to continue to grow.
@mariannewest's postcard is the fourth one I received from the USA. Marianne lives in San Diego but the postcard she sent me is from Navajo Reservation in Arizona where her husband is currently working.
You know, this is the thing I love about this social experiment, I learn so much about other places around the world. Every time I receive a postcard, I Google search the location to find out a bit more about it. According to Wiki, Navajo Reservation is the largest land area retained by an indigenous tribe in the United States. The area in the postcard is Canyon de Chelly and the tall rock is called Spider Rock. According to Navojo tradition, the rock is home to Spider Woman. And, you know what, this sandstone spire is 800 ft tall !!!
I have an offer from Marianne to take me to Navajo Reservation if I ever visit the States as it's one of her favourite places!!! I would love to take up the offer one day ^_^
And here's the stamp on Marianne's postcard. I believe this is some sort of cactus as I've seen them around but I have no idea what it's called.
The second postcard I received last week is from @GabrielaTravels from Romania. I know nothing about Romania so this was really an eyeopener for me to see Sibiu, such a beautiful city.
Gabriela sent the postcard to me in an envelope, leaving her plenty of space to write me a message. She said it took her a while to send me the postcard as she "wanted to find the perfect photo so you'll see where I'm living now and from where I take my whole energy, inspiration and love for life". I love her attitude to life, and her care in selecting the best for a stranger.
Apart from postcards, one can learn a lot from foreign stamps. This is Stefan cel Mare, also known as Stephen the Great. He reigned Moldavia for nearly fifty years from mid 15th century.
As with my previous posts, I have set 10% beneficiary to the senders of the postcards. This is my little thank you to @mariannewest and @GabrielaTravels for taking part in my social experiment. Thank you for your postcards ladies, and introducing me to some beautiful places which I hope I can visit one day.
Two weeks ago I sent out my first batch of 7 Christmas cards, followed by 3 more a week later. I know @melinda010100 from USA, @GabrielaTravels from Romanian and @gtg from Poland have already received my Christmas card. Hopefully, the remaining 7 will arrive in time for Christmas.
You can find out more about my social experiment here. And, if you would like to receive a postcard from me from Taiwan, please do drop me a message on Discord livinguktaiwan#6787 or Telegram @L_U_T or Steemchat livinguktaiwan.
Look forward to hearing from you!!!
